Who will be the opening day #3 Receiver

With the injury to Johnson and it looks like he will miss camp and maybe the first and 2nd pre season games if not more, who will command the #3 position? My guess is Poole, he is more complete than any of the other scrubs in camp. Not fast but a big target and has cohesion wiht McCown. Gilmore is a track star in a football uniform, hands O granite. McCaddley, possibly, but he is a bit of a head case. Kasper, great effort, but just not that talented.

Johnson should be okay by opening day. If not, Kasper or McAddley would be my bets. I don't know if McAddley is even healthly yet.

Poole isn't fast enough. If he's filling in for Johnson, won't we need somebody who has speed?

Gilmore is BJ's replacement. He will run at #3 WR until Johnson is healthy enough to go. The #3 WR is the deep threat. Gilmore will work at that spot because of his speed.

I believe it's a stress fracture in his foot.

Depth chart pre-injury was:

Split End (X) - Anquan
Slot (H) - Fitzgerald
Flanker (Z) - B. Johnson

Fitz's status doesn't change, he will still be in the slot. Gilmore will replace Johnson at flanker until Johnson is healthy. If Fitz isn't in camp on time, Kaspar will run at slot for the time. There is no "#1, 2, 3" per se, they are all working at different positions within the greater WR position.

Fitz moved ahead of BJ on the first day in 2 WR sets. He didn't even know the offense yet and BJ got bumped. Bj is only considered a starter because the lineups were given with the 3wr base package.

Bryant Johnson will be starting opening day. barring any healing setbacks.
