The NFC West will not be a cakewalk next season because we will have to face a Seahawk team that is healthy but we finally found a formula that works...hell, we made it to the Superbowl and the wins in the playoffs and the teams performance in the Super Bowl to me says it was not a lucky run. We have a QB in Warner and a WR in Boldin that was part of what made this thing work and cap space for the most part which should say that we should try and sign them. I'm not saying we are not making an effort but we just seem to lack a sense of urgency on something that worked and finally started to work well last season.

Just frustrated at seeing pieces we already have in place possibly slide for ifs ands and buts.

sigh

JG, you need to realize that a team cannot simply re-do player contracts every year. If that were the case EVERY player that had a decent year would go to the GM and want their old contract ripped up and redone.
The Cards are doing it right. As much as all of us want Warner signed , Dansby signed, a happy Boldin, WIlson extended and more, there are priorities.
Dansby has been put on hold for now because we bought time with the tag.
Warner is trying to squeeze every $ he can from the Cards, but the Cards do have plan B in place IF Warners demands are unreasonable.
Boldin has TWO years left on a contract extention HE signed AND WAS HAPPY WITH. He has then proceeded to act like a putz blasting the organization and claiming he won't accept ANY offer the Cards put on the table. Even Warren Sapp said on the radio today that Boldin is crazy. Boldins actions has not exactly been a smart way to get management to come to the table. HE IS NOT AT THE TOP OF THE PRIORITY LIST. He should simply shut the hell up and let things unfold.

One thing for sure. The Cards will have 53 guys suited up for opening day. Another thing that is for sure is you can bet that not all of them will be happy with their contract.

The team hasn't lost anyone either.

Dansby, arguably one of the team's biggest potential FA's, is for purposes off the market.

Warner may test the FA waters temporarily, but most outlets seem to agree a re-upping is inevitable.

We may lose Smith because of his versatility, but there may already be talent on the roster to replace him.

The Rosenhaus gang is all under contract.

The pace of the FO is annoying, but stressing over it only gives you more gray hairs.

To beer!

Sorry JG, but this is a sign of the times. Remember, the Bidwills were not even able to compete for normal players until we got the new stadium. They are not one of the owners with deep pockets, and are just now getting to the point where they can compete. Now with the economy crash, and the players wanting to parlay their local success into big contracts, is going to take them out of the market for many of the top players again. Look what some of the other teams have been forced to do in the way of cuts. Tampa is in complete disarray, and so will some of the other teams without Cowboys or Redskins type owners who have unlimited money to play with. We will probably not get hurt a badly as we would have, (without the new stadium), but we will surely not be able to keep everyone we want to. Sorry

This may be true but remember that most other teams are in some what the same situation. Teams are cutting players left and right. There will be a lot of quality players looking for homes and a patient team with cap space will be able to take advantage of that.

Patience?
That sounds like a Confucious or Buddha type of thing.
In the offseason, I'm focusing on the Suns and D-Backs.
I might go to the draft day party...

I understand this situation and think Graves is holding his own well in this situation because we really do not know what kind of offer has been shown Boldin. I just would feel a lot better when Warner finally signs a new deal because I'm one of the few that says his play this last season is not an apparition and something he could do for at least one more year. Maybe deep inside I would not mind Graves and the FO to bite back with a statement to all the "we are not getting paid enough" crap which is going on but that would be a stupid thing to do. As far as a team like Tampa Bay, they already had tons of cap space before their recent cuts and I heard something like yesterday that they have like 50 mil of cap space now...Derrick Brooks was the only player that I questioned them letting go because of what he has meant to that team but the other guys like Dunn were understandable to let go IMO.
