He had already torn it. That's why he went down untouched.

Tyrann Mathieu did the same thing last year. Tore it, walked off the field, knee buckled.

He wasn't risking anything more by walking off the field.

I was surprised but ACL's are a lateral thing, lots of people can walk after they tear it they just can't move laterally.

But it sure would suck if he tore it on the sideline.

.
Actually it's the opposite...it's supports back & forth movement. It's why his knee buckled. As Brian said, I believe it was already torn & why he went down to begin with.

Players walk off with torn ACLs all the time, there's no way to know for sure unless the injury was mcgahee-esque. The damage was done anyways, doesn't make a difference.

If its torn, does he really have a chance to make a comeback next year?? 2nd tear on the same ACL and he is 35. Crazy this is the 2nd time this happened right after he signed a big contract.

I can't recall if he wears a brace, but if not he'll likely need one to continue playing. Can't imagine a team not wanting him to wear one of some kind.

Just two days after he signed a three-year contract extension worth a reported $50 million, including $20.5 million guaranteed.

What baffles me about the injury--and why I was mad about the walk off the field-- is that it seems like Palmer grabs his right leg when he goes down. Now, I don't know if he was reaching for balance, but it seems really bizarre.
