Greetings, please pardon my ignorance of the game, but I'm confused as to why the Suns were eliminated by Dallas' win last night. As it stands now, there are four games remaining for each team. If Dallas loses all four, and Phoenix wins all four, then both teams will end up with a 47-35 record. So since they could still potentially tie Dallas' record, why are the Suns out at this point? Thanks for clearing this up for me!

Dallas has a tiebreaker because of their last win against us.

Because I believe Dallas has beaten us 3 out of 4 times this season. Someone else can confirm, but I believe Dallas holds the tiebreaker against us.

Yep, Dallas had the tiebreaker due to beating us 3 of 4 meetings. If we'd have beaten them then the season series would have been 2-2 so the tie-breaker would have been the overall conference WL record. (If Dallas and Phoenix were in the same division then it would have been their overall division record as the second tie-breaker.) Phoenix had a 2 game advantage in conf. record at the time of the last game so if we managed win it and to tie them at the season's end we'd have necessarily increased that advantage - hence we'd have had the tie-breaker. Simple, no?
