I find myself wondering the same thing, I can't believe we traded John Patterson for him. What a joke

I would rather have Luis Gonzalez pitching.

I think Bob Hope has a better arm. Right now.

Alas, Joke's on us. What an incredibly stupid move that was. One of many.

It was either get something for John Patterson or lose him for nothing. Patterson was out of options

How's Patterson doing since the trade? I'm obviously too lazy to see for myself - hopeing someone was keeping tabs on him..

He could have stayed in the rotation and been the 4th guy...

BTW

Durazo is approaching 40 AB this season and doesn't have an RBI yet. That was a good move getting rid of that tub!

Just thought I'd ask this.
A lefty specialist in the bullpen is not a bad idea. Our team just hasn't chosen very good lefty specialists for the past few years.

A lefty specialist is a complete waste of a roster space in the major leagues today.

He pitched pretty damn well today.

7 batters faced ... 6 Ks, 1 walk

Goes to that old saying of blind squirrels and nuts.

He's a bad pitcher and trading for him was a bad move. One good performance won't outweigh what we will get from him as a whole.

You're absolutely correct there... Look at how he performed today...Went 3-2 and 2-0 on the only 2 batters he faced and as a result....the score at the moment went from 8-2 to 8-5 w/the Padres still threatening....

I hate people that say "I told you so", but geez, I can't resist. Here is what I said about the trade. BTW I hated getting Reynolds and Alomar, too.

ummmmmm, I have seen Choate pitch and he defines the world totally fungible reliever. If he wasn't a lefty he'd be out of baseball.

IP/ERA's
2000 - 17/4.77
2001 - 48.13.35
2002 - 22.2/6.05
2003 - 3.2/7.36

The reason he only pitched 3.2 innings last year was because the Yankees optioned him down to AAA for most of the year.

I liked this evaluation from Waymore Sports (a good site because it gives transactions and minor league stats:

CAREER POTENTIAL: Barely big-league quality.

I was wrong about Choate being a lefty specialist.

Although he is pitching better lately, he is doing much better against RHB than lefties.
