ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Michigan football is retooling the offense with a new offensive coordinator, new quarterbacks, and a new starting running back duo but the unit will go as the offensive line does. And though there are some new pieces there (and we don't know just who will be taking over certain roles), there's one returning player that one prominent outgoing Wolverine believes will have a breakout season in 2025.

If there's any player who's departing the maize and blue who knows what it takes to be a good interior offensive lineman it's outgoing defensive tackle Kenneth Grant. A likely first-round draft pick next month, Grant has terrorized opposing centers and guards but he believes the Wolverines are in good hands on the interior. One major reason is center Greg Crippen, who returns as a starter in the middle of the O-line.

"I think Greg Crippen is gonna be really good," Grant said. "He's grew into his body a little more, gained a little more mass, so, just with the tools he has, he already has good technique, so, just building that body mass, I think he's gonna do pretty good, be pretty good."

Crippen didn't start the year as the starting center, with now-Mizzou transfer Dom Giudice having gotten the nod at the outset of 2024. But when Giudice suffered an early-season injury, Crippen took over the role and never let go.

While the center position is essentially set for the Wolverines in spring, as is one of the guard positions with Giovanni El-Hadi returning, the rest of the line is up for grabs. But the maize and blue tend to look for the best five rather than plugging and playing players at each individual position.
