LEXINGTON — Eagle-eyed observers of Kentucky basketball's NCAA Tournament watch party Sunday at noticed one player wasn't in attendance: freshman forward Trent Noah.
During a media availability following the reveal of the Wildcats' destination and opponent — third-seeded UK will take on 14-seed Troy in a Midwest Region first-round clash in Milwaukee, tipping off Friday night — in this year's Big Dance, coach Mark Pope cleared the air about Noah's absence.
"Trent's sick," Pope said. "He was feeling really, really under the weather."
Pope noted the team expects the sickness to last no more than 24 hours.
"We FaceTimed him in for our film session today. … He looks miserable," Pope said of the former Harlan County star, who is averaging 2.7 points and 2.1 rebounds in 11.4 minutes per game in 21 appearances this season.
So, for those wondering: Nothing nefarious is afoot with Noah.
"He was not out at the club," Pope said as a wide grin spread across his face.
