I don't even think the offensive play-calling was ok. It was below average.
(Why in the second quarter do we pass on 3rd and 2 on the St Louis 37 and then go for it with a run and get stuffed?? Why not run it both times if you are going for it you should be able to make 2 yards on 2 running plays. I wonder of our OC can think that far ahead?)
I was saying the same thing, so did the announcer. That was brutal. Some of you may say that you have to mix up the play calling because you don't want to become predictable. Well I would disaggree with you if you are having success at it, stay with it. They may know a run is coming but if they can't stop it, who cares. They couldn't stop the running game today, Why throw out of 1st and 10 when the run is working in your favor. WAIT. I know, so Blake can throw a pick for a touchdown.
2nd Point.- Although Boldin had an outstanding day, Blake never looks toward anyone else, then when he does the reciever isn't expecting it. ala Jones on the goalline. Yes Jones should have caught that ball. Gilmore did have a decent day and Hodges dropped and sure fire touchdown as did Jones. But Blake tends to stick to one reciever a lot (Hmmm) sounds like some other quarterback I know of..
3rd Point. 4th quarter 3rd and 1 at around the 8. Play Call. Throw a jump ball to Q result incomplete. Kick field goal. Lead by 3. Some would say good call, attack when least expected. I Disagree. Get the first down then you have 3 shots at the endzone, and can run the clock down more. With the possibility to lead by 7. Not a very good decision in my eyes.
