Can anyone tell me why we ran the pass play with Q on the very first play of a meaningless preseason game. It was beautifully ran with Boldin reversing field after motion. Sometimes the Cards amaze me at some of the things they do. To me that should have been the first play against the Niners.

Its a good question.

The best i can do is this:

1. Showing it forces teams to prepare for it.
2. There is a set up play run off of this look--- the next time it is run the ball is going somewhere else -- maybe a TE dragging the other direction.
3. They want to run it "live" once -- just to make sure they can do it. It means this wont be seen until the second half of the regular season.

Show the fans what they want to see, finally. Besides, it is Boldin throwing to Fitz. Why wouldn't it work as the first play again. Boldin can run the ball if they double Fitz? I do believe it is an option play.

Strike big at home on first play. Even if it is preseason it gets the team and fans pumped.

I liked it.

Loved it. Whiz' playbook is deeper than that, but it forces teams to account for the possibility. It makes end arounds more effective and puts future defenses on their heels. We will see it a few times this year...in different looks. Good to run it against live action and now they can break it down on film and learn from it and how to best use it for real.

So did I.

But, following it up with a false start on #75 and failing to convert a 4th and 1 really put a turd in the punch bowl.

I was more concerned about the failed conversion than the false start (rookie, he's gonna do that a bit). But it was a big test of the oline to get a push when everyone knew they were going to run it, and they failed. :(

That number should banned from use for the rest of this franchise's history.

Rookie or not, it's still a bad mistake. We don't wind up with a 4th and 1 (probably) without the penalty.

Levi needs to change his number and shave his hair off. He looks too much like Davis.

Two in two games. Levi's on his way to 20 for the season. He needs to change numbers. Too many guys are choking when they hear "false start Offense #75".

Our offense should be fine. The blocking actually looks like part of a plan most of the time instead of a Chinese Fire Drill. Leinart is the real deal and we know we have outstanding WRs.

The question is can they control the ball and score enough to offset the lack of talent on defense.

Give the other teams a taste of what's coming and try to get into their heads. Boldin could have run it, passed it or lateraled it back to Leinart. Maybe even a double reverse.

If you will notice, he pulled it the first play of the game to make sure other coaches would see it. I hope this gives some DC's nightmares.:D

I agree 100% on this, both on there are multiple things that could come from it and he did it on play one to make sure every coach in the league saw it. Posting a big sign saying "you have no clue wtf I'm going to do at any given moment...plan for me..."
