Will Clapp's return to the New Orleans Saints also represents a reunion with Kellen Moore. The latter played a huge part in why Clapp didn't need to hear any more offers in free agency after receiving a call from the Saints.

Clapp left New Orleans after four seasons to go to the Chargers. Moore joined the squad a year later, and Clapp had the most starts of his career. Clapp reflects on that season as "by far my favorite offense I’ve ever played in."

This is notable seeing Clapp was coached by Sean Payton during his first tenure with the Saints. Surely, this opinion is influence by a larger role, but it isn't solely based on this.

"Everything is fast, to the point, everything has a meaning. It isn’t crazy wordy. Everything that he puts in his offense is to the point." Wordiness was trademark of the Payton offense, so that simplicity marks a huge shift.

These differences clearly left a lasting impact on Clapp. A year later, Clapp still describes it as being his favorite offense, and he's been in four different schemes in the pros alone.

It'll be interesting to see if Clapp is able to push his way into a prominent role. He had one with the Chargers in that season, and the Saints still have a hole at left guard. Until that vacancy is filled with a surefire starter, there's a chance Clapp can compete for the spot.
