24th in average but 17th when you look at capacity %, which is a better indicator considering buildings have different capacities. Considering almost 1/3 of AWA is obstructed, and they haven't gotten out of the first round since they've been here, and they're in the middle of rebuilding, 87% isn't all that bad. It definitely isn't anything to write home about either though. It will go up with Glendale but that will wear off quick if they continue to lose. Unfortunately, winning is the only thing that will keep people showing up consistently.

Yeah, good point about the current situation at AWA.

The new digs won't hurt in the short-term, and this team obviously needs the cash.

I read something somewhere that if the Yotes average the same attendance at GA they will at least double their money from AWA

The Coyotes had to pay rent to Colangelo and did not get any parking, consessions or suite revenue. Since parking at Glendale is free for the first 10 years they still won't get any money from that but they will get money from consessions and suite usage.

I have my ticket to tonight's lacrosse game and tomorrow's hockey game.

When does a lacrosse message board get placed on this site?

How was the lacrosse game? I wanted to go but I was out of town. I read that we won and the announced attendance was 12,000. From the pictures on their website it sure doesn't look like there were 12,000 or 13,000 people there. But then again its a new arena so I don't really know for sure what 12,000 looks like. I'm glad they were able to avoid a strike. Hopefully all three of the expansion teams out west will have success and that league can start to stabilize. I'll be at the next game though for sure.

The game was alright. I will coinfess I didn't pay much attention to it. I was more interested in the new place. I walked around the arena instead getting accustomed to the new place.

Maybe the 12,000 fans included all those tickets they gave away to Coyotes full season ticket holders. The game was really being bumped by the Coyotes radio station and more free tickets were being handed out. I really don't see much of a big future for lacrosse in Arizona, but I do think there is a m,arket of maybe 5,000-6,000 fans. If that will help make it profitable or even break even then it is a good team to keep around.

I was also at the lacrosse game Friday, and I'd say that 10,000 sounds about right for the attendance.

I have to admit, I'm definitely prejudiced towards the NLL, as I used to attend games regularly when I lived in NJ, so I'm very happy to see a club here and hope it does well. I've always thought that box lacrosse is a great game that just needs more exposure. With a winning team, hopefully the Sting can average around 8-10,000.

Hopefully we'll keep winning and they'll keep selling out in Glendale. It will be interesting to see how long that sell out streak lasts.

And it ended last night as only 15,000 showed up to see the Nucks skate circles around us.
