Will Smith returns to rap

Actor Will Smith is returning to his roots by teaming up with his old hip-hop partner Jazzy Jeff in a world tour.

As a team, the two reaped fame and fortune in the 1980s and 1990s with a string of hit records. Among them, 'Parents just don't understand' and 'Summertime' were the first to win Grammies when rap was introduced as a category in 1989, reports www.hollywood.tv.

'We always talk about doing a JJFP record and a huge tour, we just have to clear the time to do it,' said Smith, who's putting his film career on hold.

'Right now, the plan is we are supposed to go out on tour together at the end of this year.'

I often wonder if people (especially in the Rap community) still accept him as a rapper, who believe that he's sold out? I know it's been several years since he's released anything from that genre and in terms of his music did compromise himself quite a bit. I'll never forget the earlier DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince albums, those were such classics....

I heard about this a few days ago.

I instantly thought of Parents just don't understand and Nightmare on my Street.

I consider myself rap community, and I never for once thought Will Smith sold out.. I guess the new rap listeners might think so.. But I grew up on his music, and back then was alot different then now.. Will stayed true to himself..

Im anticipating this new cd..

I'm not at all embarassed to say I have and like the Lost and Found album.

Verse 2 from Mr. Nice Guy
Will's a nice guy, why he's so nice I'd
let him date my daughter like he was a white guy
Not like the rest, he's a private polite guy
Why, if I were gay on Friday night I'd...
Larry Elder - Uncle Tom?
You're lucky I ain't make you the whole damn rhyme
Wendy Williams, you don't know me
I'm not your punchin bag, you gon' blow me
Off, girl, better leave me alone
before I buy your radio station and send you home
Yo, it's a warnin shot over the bow
Truth be told, this ain't my style
You gotta understand some stuff a man can't allow
You better chill 'fore you climb a tree you can't get down
Okay - people dissing Will sat on a wall
People dissing Will had a great fall
All the king's horses and all the king's men
couldn't put none of their careers together again
You get it?

:stupid:

It is my favorite song, but not the one that I think of first when I think of Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince.

He hasn't lost it. One of the best from that era, I'm sure it'd be nothing to get into the studio and put something nice together.

Good to see him start that up again. I'm a fan of his music, movies and mostly The Fresh Prince of Bel Air.

I like Will Smith but I laughed when someone at work called him the Donny Osmond of Hip Hop.
