Jay Cutler is talked about like he is the next Hall of Fame QB?

I don't understand it. If I remember there were two QB's taken ahead of him, and he didn't help the Bronco's make it to the playoffs last year.

I know Skorp will be all over this, and I hope he is because I am at a loss.

Yeah, the guy has a big arm, and won a lot of games in college but how he is ranked above Leinart and Young is beyond me. I chalk it up to the fact he plays for the Broncos, and the Broncos are always selling that there team is the best at everything, etc., etc. And the media LOVES the Broncos.

I finally needed to vent when I saw a Foxsports article claiming Cutler as a sleeper MVP. MVP ? I am still waiting to see the guy play better then the two QB's drafted in front of him.

Where is he, or by what specific measurements is he ranked about Leinart and Young??
I actually was one who believed that 5-6 years from now, he will have had the best pro career in terms of Wins and overal stats out of the 3. But I can't say I've seen "rankings" that placed him above the other two...

I don't understand how he could get the MVP when Romo probably already has it locked up.

Media darlings come and go.

i wouldn't say he was outperformed by leinart and young

Leinart had a rating of 70, young 66.7 and cutler 88.5

Cutler completed 59% of his passes, Leinart 57% and young 52%

Cutler had a TD/Int rate of almost 2-1, leinart and young were both about 1-1

Leinart received 6.7 yards per pass, young had 6.2 ypp, and cutler had 7.3 ypp

cutler won 40% of his starts, leinart won 33% of his starts and young won just over half his starts

cutlers only really bad game was against seattle in terrible weather - other than that his lowest rated game was 84 against SF and he put up a rating of 97 against a tough SD defense

young improved his rating each month and had a rating in the low 70s for the month of december

leinart also improved his rating each month and had a rating in the mid 80s for the month of december

i'm hard pressed to believe cutler was outplayed by the other 2 last year - in fact I think cutler out performed them as a QB - then again, I also think cutler is the best prospect at QB in that draft, he's smart, has a cannon of an arm, good size and decent mobility

with that said, i think he's a far cry from an MVP candidate

Cutler took over a 7-4 team? Leinart, a 1-3 team. Young, I dunno. I will wait a while on this one.

Yep, we need to revisit this thread in 2 more years.

Oh, and do you think that it is any coincidence that Cutler did well behind arguably the best line in football?

Because the Arizona Cardinals are the Atlanta Hawks of the NFL, no one really cares about the Cardinals, even when people analyse the worst franchises in sports we don't get the same credit as the Clippers and the Benglas, quite frankly people just forget about us, the big red is the big irrelevant.

If ML was in NY, Dallas or SF or hell anywhere else, he would be getting a lot more hype, quite frankly the fact that he still get some hype is a feat worthy of the figure that ML is.

all of his stats were better than the guys drafted in front of him.

Personally, I think he probably gets the props because a) he's got A LOT of talent b) Shanny works very well with QBs making horrible QB's adequate and can do much better with a guy with real talent and c) he's got a lot of weapons to work with which should only help him reach his potential.

Personally, Denver's my sleeper for the SB - I think they're offense is gonna be unstoppable.

fixed that for you

Denver's pass blocking isnt the best around

Cutler almost willed his Vandy team to a win in the Swamp a few years back....almost a major upset

the worst was the article in the Tribune after we lost to the Broncos that said we chose the wrong QB.

Mostly it's because he's got a better running game in front of him now. He's on a team that likely will make the playoffs this season (if their defense can do anything--I don't think that front seven is good enough to get them through January), and it's going to be because they have an awesome running game in front of him.

Leinart should be happy with an 8-8 finish, and the Titans are early leaders in the Darren McFadden sweepstakes.

Oh, and what I was going to say was that Cutler had a lower rating on FootballOutsiders.com than not only Leinart and Young but also Plummer.

doubtful, with 2 #2s on the team (LenDale and Henry) and Chris Brown

If both of those #2 fail to do anything (a la J.J. Arrington) and the Titans are drafting #1 overall (which they might be), then they're not going to have much choice. It'll be that or a WR.

I disagree. The Vikes were quick to take Peterson this year reguardless of Chester Taylor's presence. Taylor is far better than all of Tenn.'s backs. Not to mention I think McFadden is better than Peterson.
