On Wednedsay, the Los Angeles Lakers will visit the Dallas Mavericks, which means Luka Doncic will return to American Airlines Center, the arena he called home for six seasons and change.

Doncic was sent to the Lakers in perhaps the most shocking trade in NBA history back on Feb. 1. Los Angeles only surrendered superstar big man Anthony Davis, rising 3-and-D guard Max Christie and a 2029 first-round draft pick to receive the young generational superstar.

Mavs executive Nico Harrison has been lambasted for not only getting rid of Doncic, last season's scoring champion, but for also not getting a treasure chest of assets in return. On ESPN's First Take, Brian Windhorst said there was no excuse for them not demanding to also receive Austin Reaves for Doncic.

"The Mavericks not getting Austin Reaves in that trade is malpractice," Windhorst said. "Austin Reaves has been awesome in this last month, especially in these last couple of weeks when LeBron [James] hasn't been great. The fact that the Mavericks didn't get Reaves in that trade remains insane, and Reaves is just proving it night in and night out."

Reaves has taken his game to new heights this season, especially after Doncic became his teammate. He was already a good player the previous two seasons, but he's now playing at an All-Star level.

He's averaging 20.2 points and 5.8 assists a game this season, and he has put up 26.1 points on 52.5% overall shooting and 42.1% from 3-point range in his last 14 games. During that span, he hit the 30-point mark six times, and he exploded for 45 points back in a February win over the Indiana Pacers when James didn't play.

While the Mavs continue to be attacked for getting rid of Doncic, the Lakers have assembled a roster that could possibly do something special over the next couple of months.
