INDIANAPOLIS – Wisconsin’s trip to the Big Ten tournament couldn’t be going much better.
The Badgers have scored two Quad 1 wins in the last two days. Their 77-74 victory over Michigan State on Saturday at Gainbridge Fieldhouse is arguably the team’s most impressive win of the season.
Here is what that win could mean to the Badgers’ placement in the NCAA Tournament field.
Previously we felt the Badgers were on the fence of a 3 or 4 seed. Not anymore.
Michigan State entered the day with a No. 11 NET ranking and it will likely finish the day in the top 10 of the KenPom ranking despite the loss.
ESPN’s bracketology moved UW up to a No. 3 seed following the win. CBS’ bracketology already had the Badgers in the three spot.
That looks like where the Badgers are going to stay. The team has 18 Quad 1 and Quad 2 wins and has avenged two of its road losses with neutral site wins.
This sets up UW nicely to play the first week of the tournament at Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee.
