SAN FRANCISCO–Giants second baseman Joe Panik is on the 10-day disabled list, but he’ll likely miss much more than a week and a half. Manager Bruce Bochy said Panik will fly to Los Angeles Sunday to have Dr. Stephen Shin offer a second opinion on his injured thumb. “There is a good chance he’s heading toward surgery,” Bochy said. “But we are going to get that second opinion before that happens.” Panik injured his left thumb applying a tag on Dodgers right fielder Yasiel Puig on a pickoff attempt at second base on Friday night, and was placed on the disabled list Saturday morning. Bochy indicated Panik has ligament damage in his thumb, so surgery could require Panik to miss up to two months. Brewers
