Assuming the Cards stay at 8 we are going to get a very good player.

I say don’t freak out because no matter who we select there is a road to follow. Whether you believe we should take a defensive player, OT, Or a WR there will be a pretty darn good player to fill another need.

if you think WR is the need there will be one available at 72, perhaps a guy like Pittman or People-Jones or Bowden .

Same with an OL a guy like Niang or Peart.

Or a defensive player like Gay, Elliott, or Zuniga.

At 114 there are guys like maybe Wr Johnson, Rb Evans, DL Lawrence, and a couple of o-lineman.

So let’s relax and not let our first selection ruin our night.

I love your positivity man, but every year there's a team that decides to get too cute in the top 10. Everyone makes fun of them for it, and the crowd is right. Let's not be that team.

Totally agree. I don’t want to trade down and hope our guy is still there only to settle for our next choice.

What’s funny is there is not one players name you can pencil in that will get a 100% consensus as the right guy.

I’ve learned to let it go for the most part. This board is full of all kinds of different opinions.

I’ve seen Patrick Peterson pretty be a hall of famer and there are guys here(some not anymore) who even in his prime thought he was a bum.

I’ve seen Carson Palmer throw 6ints in a division championship game and guys blame the defense the next day.

lol just take it for what it is when someone disagrees with you.

I just pray whoever we draft is a stud

you say that, and I went through and looked at so-called reaches in the top-10 since 2010.

2010: Tyson Alualu 10th overall. We all laughed. He was 1st/2nd rd projection. He played in 157 games, started 100, and had 52 AV (above average return if not a probowler)

2011: Aldon Smith went 7th. He was projected mid-late 1st. His career got sidetracked due to personal issues, but he still posted 42 sacks his first three years and added a ton of surplus value.

2012: all consensus picks

2013: Dion Jordan, 3rd. Ok that one was bad.

2014: all consensus picks

2015: Dante Fowler, maybe, at 3? He just signed a 3/48 deal

2016/17/18: all consensus picks

2019 too early to tell

seems like the narrative is off, boss

I so feel this is the year of cuteness, coming off Hopkins trade they want more dart throws and Keim moves back and all the bickering was for not and they get someone we haven't even discussed

Yeah I like Hamilton out of Ohio St. as a Big Boy DL, hopefully in the 4th round.

If we trade down maybe Duggers will be there in the 3rd. And we'll even have a 2nd rounder to play with. RB?? Edwards-Helaire or OL Isaiah Wilson.

Alright, I'll play. Let's ignore 2019, then. Only in the top 10.

2018 - Maybe McGlinchey. He's decent, but not a superstar yet. But a reach from projections.

2017 - John Ross was a huge reach, and has been next to useless. Trading up for Trubisky was a head-scratching move when days before the draft, there were mocks and consideration that he could even end up falling as far as the Cardinals at #13. He's been bad. Heck, Corey Davis and Mike Williams were unexpected, and they've both been mediocre to bad.

2016 - Eli Apple. Easily.

2015 - Ereck Flowers. I wouldn't even count Fowler here, though.

2014 - Eric Ebron (I could see some dispute about him going in the top 10, but really not)

2013 - Dion Jordan, but this whole thing was a disaster.

2012 - This one mostly matched the consensus.

2011 - Jake Locker.

2010 - CJ Spiller, but not that bad, just a shocking pick a little early given Fred Jackson was there.

This team, especially on defense needs a game wrecker, a stud, a guy who gives DCs headaches on Wed thru Saturday nights. Badly!!! We need some new blood on the Oline as well.

As Solar keeps saying Keim is busting on 1st at an alarming rate. So no, I’m not feeling easy & relaxed, especially if Keim tries to recoup that 2nd rounder for Hopkins & trades down.

We have a solid shot at landing 1 of those game changers in Simmons or Brown, if 3 of those QBs go before us. If both are gone, I pray like heck Wirfs is there because I think he’s special as well

This is a make or break draft for Steve Keims future as our GM & it’s starts by hitting a home run at #8 Tommorrow.

I think this draft is really freaking easy. Either Okudah, Simmons or Brown in all probability are going to fall to us, you take the defensive blue chipper which is there. You do not trade out or try to get cute. Keim will impress me by being boring and doing what's right :)

Let’s hope all 3 QBs go before us or we’re probably Simmonsless & Brownless lol

I have changed on a dime now wanting Simmons after going over some of his games and he's a stud ILB... which happens to be able to play the field and give us that Dansby/Washington factor which once gave our defense moments of being elite

My nervousness with him is LB wasn't his natural position in college so I'm afraid we'll have another Reddick on our hands. Someone talk me off the cliff.
Reddick didn't play with this kind of dominance against elite competition. Reddick made his reputation in a single Senior Bowl and great Combine workout.

No one has held back on Simmons' accolades.

reddick never played ILB. Simmons has and has flourished, he also has played 3 other positions.

reddick was too small to play the position he succeeded at in college in the nfl meaning he has no position.

simmons has great size and speed. Even if he failed as an ilb which I doubt he has the build to succeed at olb.

Tons of talent evaluators then would be wrong.

this kid is loaded full of skills & produced at a high level against some of the best teams, consistently

How sweet it would be to have 2 R1 picks like Miami who have 3. What would our D be like with Simmons and Kinlaw.

Miami, if they wanted to just complete a top D this draft actually could get Okudah, Simmons, and Kinlaw. Would only take their couple of R2 and their R3 picks. They would still have 8 picks left in later rounds to package and move up to R3 and R4.

It takes two good drafts to make a difference. I would be fine if he took 5 defensive players and 1 o- lineman. If we take an OT then go defense the next 3 picks.
I wouldn’t be freaking out about not having a second round pick... it’s Hopkins! Hopkins , Fitz, And Kirk is formidable. Sprinkle in Drake, Edmonds and Arnold and I think the offender should be more than adequate.
We need to get faster on D. Simmons would do that but I’d add even more.
