Coach was on PTI today for five good minutes. Said he like what he has seen so far but we have a long way to go. They also asked him why he didn't get the Steelers job. Also talked about Matt saying he really sees the field better and thinks he will get better. They asked coach if he watched the Bears game last season and the Cards history of losing and he responded with the teams not knowing how to finish games. Talked about new stadium, the talent and having a plan of how to win. They asked him for a prediction on wins and he said he wanted to win one game and every other win would be a bonus.

Thanks for posting that.

I really hope the last line was a joke though.

It was a light hearted reply, but I thought it sounded weird that the HC replied that he wanted to win one game. I don't think I ever heard that question answered that way before.

Well, maybe he's just referring to the next game. Which I think makes good sense.

The rest don't matter yet. :p)

I am going to speculate and say that Wiz was referring to that "one win" as the Cardinals beating the Steelers as revenge for not offering him that job. The rest of the games are just gravy.

The one win comment is analagous to the one first down wish he made recently to the media regarding the Texans' game.

This is a refreshing change...clearly Whiz does not want to get ahead of himself...and wants to take one practice, one play and one game at a time. This intelligent response will likely affect the way in which the players respond to the media...no predictions, just a focus on what the very next challenge is.

The smart thing here is that a coach doesn't build a winner by talking about it or forecasting it...he builds a winner by putting in the necessary focus and discipline. Coach Whisenhunt's remarks show a good deal of self-discipline and a real understanding for how a winning attitude is cultivated.

Better one win than one heartbeat.
