The Wizards visit the Suns on Thursday for a game scheduled to start at 7 p.m. Arizona time.

They are coming off a 106-92 win on Tuesday over the Trail Blazers at Portland.

On Monday the Wizards were beaten by Jazz in Utah 116-69.

Here is more from a Scott Bordow update.

Wizards at Suns

When: 7 p.m.

Where: Talking Stick Resort Arena

TV/radio: FSAZ/KTAR 98.7 FM

The Suns will be without guard Devin Booker, who strained his left adductor muscle late in Tuesday’s loss at Toronto and will be out two to three weeks. Phoenix could slide Josh Jackson into the starting lineup at shooting guard or elevate Troy Daniels, whose 3-point shooting makes him a more natural fit. The Wizards, who are in the middle of a five-game road trip, have injury issues of their own. Point guard John Wall has not played in the last six games because of a knee injury and his status is questionable for Thursday. Phoenix beat Washington earlier this season, recovering from a 22-point first-half deficit.

I'd like to see Daniels get the starting job in Booker's absence. I want Jackson to get more minutes but he should earn the starting spot rather than be gifted it like Chriss last year. I know the situation is different but it's not like Daniels will be seeing 35-40 minutes a night like Booker. He'll get an extra 15 minutes from starting and then the other 15 can go to Jackson with Mike James seeing a slight increase also.

I disagree and would rather see JJ get the start. If you are going to call it a gift to Jackson than it would be the same thing for Daniels IMO. Difference is that this is good opportunity to give your young guy with high potential a chance to prove himself in an expanded role. Who knows, maybe with more minutes and more responsibility he will settle into a groove. This could be a very good opportunity to try and speed up his development. Same goes for Bender and Chriss as I would ask them to be more assertive on the offensive end. Give those guys an opportunity to show what they can do with an expanded role.

Difference is Daniels isn't part of the Suns long term plans, he might not even be here next year. I don't know his contract info but I know he's not on a big money longterm deal. Jackson isn't a natural SG while Daniels is. Jackson can play some SG but asking him to play that role against other teams starting SG is a lot, especially against Washington with Beal. Beal is top 5 SG in the NBA right now and would be a good defensive challenge for Jackson but he'll get plenty of minutes whether he starts or comes off the bench.

The primary difference in gifting chriss a starting spot verses JJ is that I NEVER see a lack of effort from JJ. And from what I’ve read he is ALWAYS high motor. Can’t even dial down his competitiveness in a game of horse or pick up ball. I don’t think he carries the same risk starting as chriss did.

JJ isn’t a natural two guard OFFENSIVELY. But he IS a natural wing defender. So while it may negatively impact the suns flow and spacing offensively it shouldn’t impact JJ negatively.

@ Ronin

As Ronin pointed out in another thread, Derrick Jones Jr. has been waived. Too bad the Suns couldn't have moved one of their big men but this shows they are looking for value in return and cap space.

Troy Daniels is under contract through next season. His contract for next season is only $3,258,539.

Quite a bargain in today's NBA.

I thought Daniels might be at the end of a rookie scale contract but he signed a 3 year/$10 million dollar deal prior to last season. This season pays him the most of the 3, earning $3.4 million, and it'll go down a little next year. I like the move to acquire him a bit more knowing he's locked in for next season. He's a decent backup and the amount he's paid won't keep the team from doing anything else. He's been a solid pickup for the 2nd unit. I didn't know what to expect from him, I hoped he was a better defender than he is but he's a better shooter than I thought he was. When the roster is healthy he makes for a decent 8th or 9th man. I hope Reed returns soon so we can see what he brings to the table but Daniels has been better than I expected.

So if JJ has 6 turnovers and can't hit a jumper that will not negatively effect him ?

It doesn't matter whether you call Jackson a SF or a SG, but it does matter who is the other wing on the floor with him. I don't see a Jackson/Warren wing pairing as working because neither is a floor spacer or a creator for others. Probably Jackson needs to be on the floor with Daniels or maybe even a "three-guard" set with James and Ulis.

I always like white colors for the home team. Black uniforms are not one of my favorites for home games.

The Suns are off to a quick start and lead 14-6.

End of 1st quarter.

Suns 28 - Wizards 26

Bender looks lost out there. Chriss has 7 points. Jackson had 6 points.

Mike James thus far with 0 assists and 2 points.

I agree with Poop Head, the Suns should have added a two-way point guard.

Someone should be available for money to play for us. These kids shouldn't be left out there alone. Someone half decent. Chandler and Duds don't count.

Most likely the Suns will have to continue their rebuild through the draft or trades but I can see the Suns overpaying for a quality free agent to jump start the team. A player like Kentavious Caldwell-Pope might be an example although I would prefer a different position. The draft will be a big determinant of who the Suns go after.
