This is not the most encouraging thing to hear. I hope the other cornerbacks play well.
I don't particularly care for Vance and how he calls a defense, but he isn't wrong when he says not a lot of guys in the NFL can just cover AJ Brown and Julio Jones man to man over an entire game. There are probably 6 - 8 guys who fit that mold. It just reiterates that we are not so far off from other teams in the NFL at CB. The real question is, if Vance is saying this, does it mean he is planning to use more zone coverages like some of us have speculated?

Using some zone defense part of the time would seem like a good option. How much, I don't know. I'm thinking Vance is going to rely more on the pass rush against the Titans than depend on coverage. It could be a long game if they can't hurry the passer. I guess we will find out how good the Cardinals cornerbacks are in a hurry.

I expect few blitzes in week 1. given our corner/dline combo it makes sense to rush 4 majority of the time and see if we can get pressure with that. 7 in coverage, lots of 2 high safety looks

Most of the league use more zone than man. I don;t think there's barely a team now plays more. If I recall there were 2 or 3 in 2019.

With QB mobility increasing every year alongside decreasing CB quality I think this is a trend that will continue and that Vance would be right to go more zone heavy.

Plus with Murphy better in zone and I think Wilson played in a zone heavy scheme at Florida it would seem a better fit for who he has.

Wow!

This dynasty in the making can only score 24 and beat the lowly Cards by 3.... :thewave:
Look first games are always closer than they should be. Last year TN went to Denver and almost lost to a bad Denver team. The kicker missed 4 FG and truthfully the offense was not deadly in the red zone as it has been for two years. That changed after the first game. Denver did what I expect AZ do. Stop Henry at all costs. Henry still got his and had an avg game of 116 yards. Last year game one TN did not have AJB either. He missed the game. This year AJB and JJ will be up this time.

Well, we're not a "bad' team as you're about to find out.

Fellas, Cardinals are going to start 2021 NFL season with Byron Murphy, Robert Alford and Marco Wilson as their starting cornerbacks.

That is it. That is the post.
