They've literally gone from getting cell phone breaks, to being told what to wear and when to wear it. It's a total culture shock and shift.
I‘ve always been excited for openers, even when we’ve had guys like Hogeboom, Rosenbach, Tupa, Beuerlein, Schroeder, and Krieg start at QB. Add some trash HC’s like Holway, Wilkinson, Bugel, Ryan, McGinnis, Wilks, and KK, and it becomes very easy to get excited about this opener. It’s no doubt a rebuild, but progress will come sooner than people expect. So hard to get excited for this one, even as an opener. I'll be happy if we keep it close and play a tight game.
No, but listening to your coach has great impact. What you wear on an airplane has literally zero impact on winning and losing.
Interesting maneuver, unless they aren't super confident that McLaurin will make it through the entire game.xc_hide_links_from_guests_guests_error_hide_media
I don't think they have a choice, per Gannon's previous pressers, where he mentioned not wearing team approved gear to be a fineable offense.
Yep, it starts with the little things. When you have a young staff and almost the youngest roster (thanks Prater), you have to build the team first foundation at every step you can, IMO.
Discipline starts with the smallest actions. What you wear on an airplane has literally zero impact on winning and losing.
I agree. Football has always had a military-like structure. In the military, we build discipline by the smallest of actions. Google Admiral McRaven's commencement speech where he talks about the importance of making your bed in the morning. When you have a young staff and almost the youngest roster (thanks Prater), you have to build the team first foundation at every step you can, IMO.
I have the book...Make Your Bed.I agree. Football has always had a military-like structure. In the military, we build discipline by the smallest of actions. Google Admiral McRaven's commencement speech where he talks about the importance of making your bed in the morning.
This brings me back to 1960 and Basic Training at Ft. Bragg.I have the book...Make Your Bed.
At least they ain't on my lawn!! LolReal old man yelling at clouds vibes right here.
Broken window theory. What you wear on an airplane has literally zero impact on winning and losing.
When I first joined the Army I didn't really get why every little thing mattered like that, but I figured it out over time.Broken window theory.
The little things lead to the big things so the details matter.
It's just an analogy, not a 1 to 1 exact comparison, IMO. I'm pretty sure they aren't blasting hip hop and Jimmy Buffett over the loud speakers during basic training drills.Sounds great but a military type approach with todays athletes? Not sure that will fly.
It's all good until you're 1-12.I'll share this here again, too. This is a good article on the culture shock and shift and players fully understand what's expected of them....oh, and Murray loves it.
How Jonathan Gannon has brought 'culture shock' to Cardinals
The new regime has emphasized how to "behave as a team," focusing on once-overlooked details they hope will make a difference on the field.www.espn.co.uk

That stuff only works in make believe movies.Sounds great but a military type approach with todays athletes? Not sure that will fly.
That's a big help...if they go 2 TE, McBride can stay to chip or block with Ertz and 2 WRs in a pattern.xc_hide_links_from_guests_guests_error_hide_media
Lots of battles are lost in winning a war. It's all good until you're 1-12.
