In essence, the D-Backs had only two eggs, and they put them in one basket. Now both are broken, and there’ll be no breakfast, lunch, brunch or dinner. The team was 9 1/2 games out of first when Schilling’s injury was announced and three weeks away from getting Johnson back. By the time both aces are back on line, it will be close to July and the team will be all but out of the playoff race.

Hmmm......July 1st.......remind me where we sit again?


And my personal favorite:

Management made the mistake of relying on two aging pitchers, and now they’re paying the price. In a lot of ways, Arizona is lucky that Schilling got hurt now, because it removes all fantasies that the team might still make a run at the playoffs when Johnson comes back.

Certainly looks good for the Backs now. Let's see how they're doing in August. There will be plenty of time to admit I blew it. And I won't mind, as this could turn into the best story of the season.
