Word question...

I have a huge file (start of my dissertation) and when I print it I get an extra page.

Also when I hit the print preview I can see the page number goes 55, 56, 58, 59....

Can anyone help me with this? I cannot seem to figure it out. I don't have any page breaks hidden in there.

I suggest you hit control "A" and then hit delete.

Sometimes this works.

CNTL-A (select all)
CNTL-C (copy)
open a new file
CNTL-V (paste)
save as the new file
then close the first file

try printing from the new file.

I have had EXCEL and WORD do weird things like this and when I cut and paste to a new file, the weirdness stops. Just doind a save as, of the original file doesn't work.

speaking of how much word sucks, i opened it up one day and the scroll down bar on the side was gone and so was the little display thing (not actual name) on the bottom, the one that says what page you're on. any ideas as to how to get those back?

Views -> toolbars

Then make sure Standard, Formatting and Task Pane are checked

turn on the show formatting (looks like a new paragraph editing symbol) and make sure there isn't an explcit page break in there on page 56
