The Minnesota Vikings have been told they need to do about five hundred different things in the 2025 NFL Draft. They need to add another offensive lineman, more depth on the defensive line, and a fix to the secondary. Just eight days before the draft, we have finally decided on the worst-case scenario for the Vikings.
While we have often discussed the best things that could happen to the franchise next week, we need to be ready for something bad to happen. In this case, the worst thing that can happen is the Vikings staying at pick 24 and selecting anyone; simply making the pick at 24 is their worst-case scenario.
By making the pick at 24, they are essentially punting on the next two rounds of the draft since they will not pick until 73 selections later.
Of course, Kwesi Adofo-Mensah and the Vikings can want to trade back all they want, but unless someone wants to move up, they can't achieve that. The quarterback position is always the straw that stirs the drink in the NFL Draft, so if one falls, that helps them. If they are forced to make a pick, the worst pick they could make would be adding someone for depth along either line on defense or offense.
The Vikings are smart, they showed last year they can work the draft. Fans will just have to wait a while to see what falls into their lap.
