There have been some really stupid, crazy, and unbelievably bad plays we have all witnessed our team botch over the years. What is one in particular that still has your head scratching after all these years?

PS. I think we can all agree on the most devastating play ever was the Steelers pick six vs the Cards on the last play of the 1st half of the only Cards Super Bowl. Warner's bad! He stated that he never saw the Steeler drop back into coverage. When you are on the 1 or 2 in the Super Bowl, maybe you should try pounding it in on the ground, as the Seahawks learned the hard way in S.B. 49.

don't know the year but there was a game against the 49ers where on the opening kickoff 2 Cards let the ball bounce not realizing it was live and SF recovered on the 2 yard line.

And the game where the other team deferred to the 2nd half and we chose to receive so they got the KO both halves.

I wouldn't call Warner's pass in the Super Bowl stupid. It was a great play by Harrison. Warner's endzone fumble against the previously 1 win 49ers in overtime is his dumbest play.

1) Neil O'Shankohue missing 20 yard FG on last play in OT of 10-10 tie against Gmen. The reason I put him at the top is because he missed like 3 other gimmes.

2) Fransisco falling down on the last drive long completion to Holmes that allowed Stealers to go for the win

3) Grammatica tearing ACL while celebrating a FG in 1st qtr lol

4) Rackers missing a gimmie FG on the last play after Leinart lead them back for the biggest choke job I've ever witnessed in a Big Red game! They dominated the Super Bowl bound Bears.

5) O'Shankohue missing the last second FG in '84 against the Skins that would've won the NFC East. That Cards team was good enough to win the Super that year because nobody had an answer for Lomax to Green.

6) Big false starting with 10 secs against the Rams blowing another win with his chronic ineptitude.

7) Hiring Bud Wilkinson-really? That alone showed how clueless Bowtie was at running a football team.

Let alone Q ran a bad route which nobody ever talks about. WR's are taught to never let a defender cross their face. If Quan squares his slant off instead of drifting deeper IMO we're Super Bowl champs. :bang:

This is the first one that popped into my head. How about the game against the Rams where the Rams had the game locked up late and fumbled it back to us deep in their territory, but then Warner got stepped on or bumped coming away with the snap and fumbled it right back?

that play was epic. we were literally handed a miracle win with the first fumble... and then gifted that miracle right back with our own fumble.

But Grammatica takes the cake. Celebrating a first quarter FG... from like 37 YARDS OUT... and tearing his ACL was beyond embarrassing.

That's the one that came immediately to mind. #1, that is...

Was that not like 4th and 20? Hate that guy for that play.

For some reason I remember a couple of plays by Plummer, towards the end of his time here, that were just, like... wth?

Just like super pathetic attempts to throw the ball, with it ending in a humiliating disaster...

Could be wrong though.. :)

I think I have to go with Grammatica. Bono run was pathetic on our part, but to blow out your knee celebrating a 1st half fg is just impossible to top

Gramatica celebrating a 3-0 1st quarter lead like he'd just won a playoff game and then the gods of football punishing his hubris.

"76 yards longest run for a touchdown in the history of the NFL"

????? What? Even if he misspoke and meant to say "For a QB", that still doesnt sound accurate.
He meant to say longest jog for a touchdown.

I was at the Gramatica game, so I have to go with that. It led to Tillman kicking off, though...

2nd and 6 but if Francisco makes that tackle, they're still a mile away and forced to use their last timeout and under a minute left. But the worst part about that play other than Francisco playing like he was on roller skates was that Dockett was a whisker from sacking Ben.

Well, Terrell Pryor, Kaep, and Mariota all have runs over 85 yards now.

Not to make you feel worse but that miss was at 18 yards.

I don't blame him for this one. It was a 42 yard attempt, definitely not a gimmie, the kicking team was rushed onto the field, and the whole thing was rushed. Had the clocking the ball rule been in effect the outcome might have been different.

As for dumb plays, Dennis Green's play calling in the 2nd half of the Bears game is the stuff of legend, and not in a good way. The entire planet knew he was going to pound Edge inside trying not to lose. Then to top it all off, Scott Player kicks a returnable punt to Hester was the cherry on the sundae. Grossman couldn't move the ball all day. Player could have kicked that ball out of bounds Butler style and the game would have been over.

Another series of dumb plays. 1st and goal on the 2 yard line @ Philly then, well...

Not for nothing but Chandler got in on the first lunge.

Absolutely nothing compares to this

I still vividly remember where I was, what I was eating, and who was in the room with me when this happened.

Nothing comes close for me.

I was in the first row of the north endzone, pointing and yelling, futilely trying to get a defender's attention.

Ah, memories.

I barely follow the NFL, but I think I recognize that game. Isn't that the one that was followed by Green's epic press conference of "They are who we thought they were ... Crown their asses"?
