The entire pitching staff has held opponents under 5 runs per game 3 times this season in 14 games. Only 2 pitchers have an ERA under 4 (Randolph and Webb). 8 pitchers have ERAs over 5.00

Team ERA currently sits at 6.79

I said prior to spring training the D-Backs would lose 100 games due to their awful pitching and aging hitters(Gonzo, Finley, Alomar). They are (unfortunately) proving me right.

Randy Johnson is just a shell of his former self, I really just can't see a guy his age, size and throwing the way he does playing an entire season especially with a history of back problems.

Webb is the only hope on the staff for a succesful season(a winning record and reasonable ERA).

Until the D-Backs get out from under those deferred contracts they won't be able to buy big time free agents which I think is why they need to change their philosophy and build through their minor league system rather than sign aging-past their prime-veterans every offseason(Reynolds, Sparks, Alomar). Anyone think we could be worse off with Patterson in the rotation than Sparks or Daigle? What a smoking deal to get Choate that was.
