One of my draft buddies sent me an interesting observation about Reddick. If he's so versatile and can do so many things, why was he only on the field for 70% of his teams defensive snaps. He didn't play in likely running downs and of course goal line defenses. You would think if he was too small to line up at DE he could have been in there at LB. He may be versatile, but must not have positional skills or knowledge to play all around. His contributions may be limited in 2017.

Maybe the coaches at Temple didn't utilize all of their players as well as they could have. Isn't practice time limited for college athletes and there wasn't enough time for Reddick to be taught new assignments.

Word out of the Senior Bowl was Reddick took well to new assignments and responsibilities at LB.

Yeah, regardless of his athleticism, I'm pretty dubious that he's going to be able to see the field much. He has to be smarter than Karlos Dansby and Bucannon in the base defense. I just don't see it. Dansby's going to be the guy calling the plays.

This is what the Cardinals need to do with their pass rushers. Try to keep them as fresh as possible for the 4th quarter. Now we have some depth to make that possible.

Maybe as an undersized DE they needed to keep him fresh as he was going against much bigger OLmen

Production will tell the tale. He'll be out there initially in the sub packages. He'll have to earn being a starter and will down the line. I think he'll bring an edge we haven't had on ST coverage that we've been lacking for a good while. Extra bonus.

Interesting point, but Arian's counter is that Reddick will be playing in the nickle package, which they are in 65% of the time. Im guessing they know hes still a developmental guy, which IMO, was part of the reasoning behind the pick. He still has room to grow into what they expect him to become.

You can take that as you want, but just how I read into all the quotes from Keim/Arians.

Yep & that's exactly why the Falcons lost the 25 pt SB lead!!! Basically 1 threat & they were all gassed in the 4th & stretch drive.

It's why the Cards lost SB 43 as well. Big Ben had all day on that last series, he probably talked to Joe Montana & John Candy each play lol

70% is actually a high number. Don't see the issue with it. You don't have players on the field 1oo% of the time. They would definitely be wore out by the 4th quarter.

Which is why some of us hated the pick. There were non-developmental players sitting there waiting for us to pick, and we took the developmental guy.

Maybe, just maybe the non developmental guys had a much lower ceiling than the developmental guy so that is why we picked him?

With college offenses running in excess of 90-100 plays, on a regular basis, I'd say 60-70 defensive snaps per game is actually quite good.

Minter played 93% LYR, Chandler 87%, Peterson 96%, Jefferson 86% and none of the would be as versatile as Reddick. 70% is a low number if your a difference maker.
