It might sound strange to some of you guys but I wouldn't take Shaq even if it meant we would win a championship. I think his game is really boring and I think his style of play is a lot of what is wrong with the NBA. If he were on the Suns team and he became the main weapon the only exciting part of the game for me would be the wins not actually watching the game....

the main problem with shaq's game right now is that it is being run in the triangel offense. look back to the offense that was run with barkley and kj in 93 and i think that would be a very good offense but the problem would be getting the most of of amare and shaq on the same team.

At this point, I wouldn't want him either. Moreover, I don't think any team in the league would give up a very good young superstar for him. The rumor-mongers are talking about Indiana, but I don't think the Pacers would give up Jermaine O'Neal. I guess I could see Memphis giving up Gasol and other attractive young talent, but that's only because they don't seem all that high on Gasol, for some mysterious reason.

Shaquille O'Neal doesn't exactly have a stellar history. He made it to the Finals once with Orlando, playing alongside a dominant Penny Hardaway, and got swept. With the Lakers, he has won three titles, but only while being coddled by Jackson and well supported by Bryant and other solid role players. Once the support was less than first-rate, so was he.

Even if there were a way to make it work under the cap (which there isn't), I think it's very unlikely that the Suns would accept any deal for O'Neal that included Stoudemire -- which the Lakers would insist on. Overall, it's much more likely that O'Neal remains a Laker for the rest of his career (however long that is) or the Lakers simply let him walk than it is that he will be traded.

It's your fantasy and you are welcome to it.

Add Shaq to the Suns without having to give anyone up and the Suns win it all. But to add Shaq requires finding almost $30 million. Marion, and all the cap space after dumping White is about the only conceivable format.

Shaq - $29.5 million

Current cap space at $45 million - $11
Marion - $11.3
White - $5.8
Jacobsen - $1
------------------
$29.1

Even at that price, it does not get the Lakers even close to being able to sign a free agent above the MLE.

Current Lakers:

$64.6 million
-29.5
+11.3
+1
---------
$47.4 million

I guess my point didn't totally come across :) I think Shaq is the most dominate player...and to tell you the truth if we could get him for free I think he would win us a championship... The point is I think he is totally boring and I don't like how the refs call the game when he is playing.

I was just thinking to myself would you do anything to get a championship for the Suns? and my answer is no, if Shaq was the main guy and we just tried to throw it in to him every possesion I wouldn't enjoy a Suns championship as much and I would just prefer to contend every year and take our chances with what we go...
