Wouldn't Brown me more ideal in the slot than Fitz?

Straightforward question. Brown seems more of the Welker-type to me, why does Fitz fill that role in Arians' offense?

It depends how you want to use the slot WR position. If you use as a run blocker in pass looks, you want someone who can block more than a speed guy. You also don't want to telegraph what you want to do. Arians doesn't use Fitz in the slot exclusively, but he does have packages where he needs to be able to do so.

Also, Fitz is a good route runner which can lead to a mismatch inside.

john brown is pretty small and skinny to be catching footballs in traffic by prowling safeties.

Tell that to Wes Welker. Like Chopper said, it is all in how you use the position.

By the eye test, Brown seems much thinner and smaller than welker. Looked him up and they only have an 8 lb difference. Weird he looks so small

He needs to work on them hands before he can go slot. Seems like the only thing he can catch consistently are deep passes. (If you're talking about John Brown, that is)

Yup. It depends on the offensive system. Welker doesn't have the long speed that Brown has, and Brown probably doesn't have the short-area quickness that Welker does.

That said, based on what we've seen from Arians in Pittsburgh, Indy, and now here, it seems like what he likes to do with the slot WR is use him to move chains and pick up the 5-8 yard pieces to keep the offense on or ahead of schedule.
