Wouldn't it rule if David Harrison slipped to us in the past draft?

He went two spots ahead of us, he could have filled up the third center spot that we desparatly need. I'm not totally sold on Vroman. He seems like Voskuhl... but worse. Maybe we should have taken that Peter John Ramos from Puetro Rico. More of a project, but the man is like 7'3!

IMO the Suns were looking for someone they wouldn't want to sign unless he could be used in a trade.

You mean they intentionally drafted someone they didn't want? I don't understand.

They drafted Vroman because they thought he would have a chance to make the team and contribute.

There is a pretty good history of good players taken with the 31rst pick.

How is Vroman really gonna help us? all he's gonna do is gain DNP-CD's and maybe play 4 minutes a game for like 30 games. :trout:

vroman may not be much this year but he will end up being an important part of the in a time. what he does and can be is an enforcer. he has a temper and works very hard. what he will do is back up amare. when frances hits amare with an elbow again amare wont go after him. vroman will go in and cut him down to size. when fortson goes after a someone with a cheap shot then you bring vroman in to take him out. right now our enforcer is amare. that can lead to a lot of problems when your superstar is your enforcer. to take that off amare they have brought in vroman. i wouldnt be shocked to see vroman getting 8 to 10 mins a game.

Vroman looks to me to be a taller version Bo Outlaw - except that he will be a better rebounder. The book on him is that he plays very hard all the time, goes hard to the glass all the time, and actually has some offensive skills.

Look at Bo's game and ask yourself what he did. He was a terrible shooter, not a particularly good rebounder, and not even an especially good man on man defender. But Bo played like maniac all the time, disrupting the opponent's offense, scrambling for loose balls, and being a general pest.

It's remarkable how useful that can be.

If Vroman looks half as good as Outlaw, Ill be happy. According to the quotes, he does seem to play with lots of heart. I'd like to see how he does in the summer leagues before making any judgement on him

I have only read about him and seeing him in clips, but he looks like a smaller version of Jake Voskuhl with better offensive skills to me. I expect him to put up nice numbers in the summer leagues.

Give the guy a chance. How do you know he can't contribute 10 minutes a game giving some of our big guys a rest every once in awhile? He might be able to come in and grab a few boards for us and play a little D. I am not saying he will be good and I have no idea if he will even be in the rotation of not but atleast give the guy a chance before jumping to conclusions.

How about "banger"? Seriously, there are times when having a "tough guy" to counter act physical play by the other teams is very valuable. I'm not sure Vroman is big enough, but it can be useful.

Still, it is nice to have someone to go after the Fortsons of the world when needed.

I'm just curious, but he's going to "cut him down to size" and "bring vroman in to take him out"? That is different than having a "tought guy" on the team. If you are talking about a banger, then fine I agree. I've said all along that Amare needs a big tall tough shotblocking center to play along side of. From the sound of scots, this guy will be out of the league in 2 weeks.

i am sorry i dont think you are reading the same scouting reports that i have. the day before the draft ustoday had a big piece on him and other places have had some good peices on him. he will be a good role player on a team.

you dont think you need an enforcer in the nba? well they arent the same as in hockey but they are just as important. they are the players that will give the hard fouls as you try to drive to the basket. they are the players that others will hate to play against because they may say they are cheap or they cheat when all they do is play hard and dont back down. they are the charles oakley's, rick mahorn's, bill lambeer's, otis thorp's, a.c green's and brian grant's of the nba. and truely there rarely are any team that is successful without at least one on there team. i believe the suns would have beaten chicago in 93 if they (chicago) hadnt been so physical with charles barkley in the first games that cause him so injuries and slowed him down.

a good role player, then great, but oakley, mahorn, lambeer, thorp, green, grant? come on man, these guys can actually play.

If he can play a role and be an "enforcer" then great, but just to come off the bench to crush somebody won't do any good.
