Wow, I've never seen prevent offense before.

Holy hell. Well, we found a new and interesting way to make our playmakers on offense ineffective, yet again. What was Green thinking in the 2nd half?! Leinart & Boldin were simply on FIRE in the first half, and then in the 3rd quarter & 4th quarter every time we got a first down, it was Edge over right guard. Edge over right guard....Edge over right guard.

Every

Stinking

Dumbassed

Time.

Unreal! We ran right into the bears strength & our own weakness. I understand controlling the clock, but 3-and-outs don't control a god damned thing. That drive we had to open the third quarter was excellent & drug 6 minutes off the clock. 1 or 2 more drives like that, utilizing the short & intermediate passing game would've been excellent.

As for James, I've been a big defender of his recently. I seriously think he isn't a good back now. He had holes tonight. They were small, and they weren't on every play, but he has a knack for 1) not hitting the hole hard, and 2) not persuing the right hole. He has no vision, and no cutback ability. He's a Michael Pittman clone, running straight up into the back of a lineman.

Punting 6 times a game is rediculous. It's rediculous because chances are you're not varying your lanes at all, and you let an opposing coordinator see your cover strategy 5 times, they're going to eat you alive on the next try.

And what happened?

Unreal.

I've been a supporter of Dennis Green. I thought he was a good coach. I looked past the flaws in clock management, looked past the idiotic building of the team from the outside in (WRs & RBs first, OL 2nd), and even looked past the brutal personnel moves like cutting solid O-linemen.

I can't look past this. His conservative game plan cost us this game 100 times more than Neil Racker's missed attempt. I don't care about running the ball to run down the clock with a lead. GET FIRST DOWNS ANY WAY YOU CAN. That's the bottom line. You sustain a drive any way you can, and you put the Bears away tonight.

I'm absolutely sick for our defensive players, who all played like pro-bowlers tonight. 6 turnovers, no TDs, 3 pts scored against, and less than 40 yards rushing against, and we still lost?

It's a crazy world today. And I'm hoping today is the first day of interim head coach Clancy Pendergast's regime. I'm emotionally checking out on the Dennis Green era. He's a terrible coach.

I can hear his half-time locker room speech now:

"O.K. You guys have shown the whole football world we can play with the best of them. We've beat them defensively, we've beat them offensively. Now let's get out there in the second half and protect that lead. All we got to do is go into our prevent offense mode and the game is ours!!!!! Now don't scrfew up!!!!!" This team needs a boxer mentallity. When you got your man on the ropes don't back away, attack!!!! I still believe with just a LITTLE better coaching, just a LITTLE BIT, we would be at least 4-2 right now. Of course I drink a lot of this stuff......

You can NOT protect a lead when your the friggin' Cardinals!!!

Every NFL team in the league knows (thinks) they can beat the Cardinals no matter how dire their situation is. Down 20 points..."Fine we still have a chance. We're playing the Cardinals for Christ sakes!"

Until this franchise learns how to win...the Cardinals coaches have got to appreciate the fact that you have to put the pedal down and embarress other teams. Win 43-3 a few times by passing the ball all over the place with Matt Leinart and Q and Fitz, and Bryant, and Pope (wherever he is), etc. Until you throttle people a few times and get a rep that you are good...other NFL teams will ALWAYS believe they have a chance to come back and WIN against the Cardinals!

I think there is a ton of truth to what you say, I've been saying we need to dominate some teams from the get go and we get just right there and let off.

What I hope the new OC will do is literally bury the other teams ass even risking looking like a dope for passing up by 21, just knock the snot out of everyone.

The good news is that no one will fault the Cards for running up the score because if we can blow this lead, than no lead is safe.

I'll say what I said in another thread. While most teams do sit on the ball to protect the lead, it's not unusual to still pass when you have the lead, witness the Colts and Eagles of their successful years, they were passing teams and kept passing, even with the lead.

Yeah , this team played not to lose , not to win in the 2nd half. A few more passes Boldin and Johnsons way and we win easily w/o any last mnt; drama despite the fumble and k/o returns. 3 pts in the 2nd half doesn't cut it in the NFL. That's why they lost. Goodbye Rowen.

For any other team, the strategy was probably the correct one. Shanahan was even more conservative, if anything, against the Raiders on Sunday night. But, I guess conventional strategy doesn't apply to us. It took one hell of a alignment of crazy plays for us to barely lose that game, in spite of the playcalling. But, it happened.

Who's going to write the "Cardinals Rules"?

Not counting the last drive for the failed FG the Cards ran the ball 16 times and threw 19 in the third and 4th Quarters.

Drive 1 1R 2P
Drive 2 5R 7P
Drive 3 1R 1P fumble on the sack
Drive 4 3R 3P
Drive 5 1P 2P
Drive 6 2R 1P
Drive 7 1R fumble
Drive 8 2R 3P

The problem was that they ran Edge all but about 2 first downs for no gain and then had to pass leaving too much time on the clock allowing them the extra time they needed to shoot themselves in the foot.
