I see a lot of people wanting to take a WR with our first or possibly second round pick.
I guess I missed something—I thought we drafted 3 WRs in the 2019 draft.
We had a speedster that everyone was excited about that we took late 2nd round—-can’t get on the field
We took a big body/fast guy with suspect hands—hasn’t played a down and was at or close to the bottom of the depth chart before he got hurt with the 1st pick of the 4th round
We took a 6th round guy most people never heard of that flashed in TC
So after taking 3 WRs last year, and taking Kirk the year before—we want to pick one in the first round? I didn’t start this out as another Keim sucks thread but.....
Keim took a CB with our 2nd last year and correct me if I’m wrong but if he didn’t take that CB I believe we will still be #32 in defense——difference making WRs available with that pick, Deebo but even better was AJ Brown who is looking like a true dominant number 1
Keim took a fast small school burner with our next 2nd rounder and passed on the physical freak DK Metcalf who looks good. Not only passed on Metcalf but he ended up as a Seahawk????
Keim took a DL in the 3rd which we needed but again still #32 defense—passed on Terry McClaurin who I watch EVERY Sunday on highlight reels as a Redskin dominating with trash at QB
Keim took another DB with his 5th rounder which we will see how he turns out—but again could have taken Darius Slayton
So we got Isabella Butler Johnson
And we could have had AJ Brown Metcalf McClaurin or Slayton
Can you imagine what our offense would look like this year with just 2 of those picks
And we wouldn’t even have to consider that position in April
I am soooooooo frustrated watching us take the wrong players year after year and then trying to fix it in free agency or the very next draft, i live in Texas but if anyone can tell me where Mr Keim likes to drink, I will fly in and look him up-Buy him several of his favorite drinks-put him in his car and send him home-(call police when he leaves) I believe that is the only way he gets fired

The only player outside of Murray whit some playmaking ability is drake, Fitz is the only one receiver above average but he lack acceleration to get open, his hands are amazing but is not the treat he was
Kirk, Meh, not looking good
Then we have 3/4 guys that can barely make the roster in every NFL teams
We still have to see Butler, but is a group that must to be improved

Keim was punished for the drinking incident. It's time to let it lay unless you think it verifies your manhood or something

Between Fitz if he returns, Kirk, Isabella, Butler, Keeshawn, Pharaoh Cooper, and Byrd, we have enough talent to round out WR spots #2-6 just fine. We need a #1 to be sure, but wasting a top pick on one this year would be a poor choice when our D is in shambles.
Using FA to stock our offense while using the draft to fix our defense is the right move for this offseason.

Cooper and Byrd aren't signed through 2020 though.

The anti-WR group will likely get their wish as the win probably ended all chance of getting Lamb. It’s true the Cards have WR numbers but the WR talent level is a valid concern. Certainly many receivers have to experience an NFL year before their talent shows up. So maybe they’re not as bad as they’ve looked. Kirk has no such excuse. With only 1 impressive game this season you have to doubt he’ll become an impact receiver. Draft-wise, after the top 2 receivers there’s no sure winners in the top 2 rounds. That is not to say some taken there won’t turn out to be winners, but rather there’s no clear indications which ones it will be. Best to wait to round 3 and roll the dice then.

The defense needs fixing first, DL is our weakest link. We need Derrick Brown from Auburn, if he isn't available, maybe the DL from South Carolina? Can't remember his name right now. Maybe Thomas or Wirfs for the OL? Our first pick in the draft will depend on who we sign during FA in march. Yes, we could most certainly use a #1 type WR, can't totally depend on the development of the 3 we drafted for this season. We can get by with an improved Isabella, plus Kirk, Larry, Byrd & Cooper. Dan Arnold looks solid also. Then there is Butler. We don't know what we have there? He's tall, has speed, makes one handed acrobatic catches in practice, but has a dropsy problem all reports indicate. Totally forgot about Johnson, he looked good early but has since slipped so far down the depth chart, they keep putting him on the inactive list. Someone has to go, Johnson makes 8. Cooper & Byrd are FA after this season, they both should be resigned imo. I believe Cooper is safe because of being the return man. SK Will have some decisions to make there, pretty sure KK will get a say in who is kept at WR. No pass rush has burned us twice against the 49ers, allowing JG to pick us apart. That needs to change. If we keep winning games, we may have to take the BPA? Outside the top 10.

Like they say, hindsight is 20-20. I have my fingers crossed that some of our WR's will breakout next season. You have to be lucky in the Draft. The Patriots have dominated the NFL for much of this century, in large part because of Tom Brady. And they PASSED ON DRAFTING HIM FOR FIVE ROUNDS.

I'm right there with ya man. Keim's bad. But we are probably stuck with him for another year.

But why? Why doesn’t Bill Bidwill accept that SK has failed terribly with 90% of the daft picks and free agent signings over the last 5 years?

That’d be nice if he didn’t have a condition that prevented him from playing here.

how does one who reads this board not know this? It’s like my wife who spouts details about a news headline without reading the article itself. Drives me nuts...

Look at the 49ers 1st rounders the last several years.2015 SF drafrted 17th and picked Arik Armstead DL.2016 SF drafted 7th picked Deforest Buckner DE-DT,2017 SF draftyed 3rd picked Solomon Thomas DE,2018 drafted 9th and picked Mike McGlinchey T-G,2019 drafted 2nd and picked Nick Bosa DE who is going to the Pro-Bowl as a starter .
SF missed on Josh Garrett OG2016 and Rueben Foster who is suspended I think.Still SF was picking in the area of the round that the Cardsw frequently end up and SF drafted to fix the DLine 1st and the OLINE.They fixed the trenches first.....SF records was 5-11 in 2015,2-14 in 2016,6-10 in 2017,4-12 in 2018 ,12-3 in 2019 so far.Seems like something the Cards might want to consider before drafting another WR in RD 1.Fix the damn trenches.

Do you know who would look really good in this offense?

John Brown

Quick, smart, runs good routes and hasn't missed a game since he left here.

#keimtime

oh F’ing stop it. John Brown was run out of town on this board. He got sick and his production took a nose dive. I’m very happy he’s back to being a productive NFL player but at that time it was 100% the right thing to do to not sign him

Wasn't one of the issues while here his drops too?

2018- Among all wide receivers with at least 88 targets, Crabtree and Brown finished Nos. 1 and 2 respectively in drops. Brown’s seven dropped passes put him at 14.3 percent, while Crabtree’s 11 drops put him at 16.9 percent. Snead, Brown and Crabtree totaled 23 drops in 2018. By comparison, all the Ravens’ wide receivers totaled just 15 drops in 2017

https://ravenswire.usatoday.com/201...018-michael-crabtree-willie-snead-john-brown/

He has cut it to 4 this year

If true that he left because of BA, than he returns, but with the heat, his condition could be worse, so I really don't know. But he would be a good #2 again.

But we need a #1 in this offense, a guy like Larry was in his prime. At the moment, the double cover Larry and only the TE or RB can make plays because or our WR are overmatched or aren't ready yet.

Still I would look into the WR coach, because after a full season, you might finally see something out of your rookie WR. Altought Cooper improved this year in our O.
