A year ago, only a 72nd-hole lip-out denied Wyndham Clark a chance to win The Players Championship.

In 2025, Clark didn't even make it to the weekend.

Clark withdrew from The Players Championship at the midway point of Friday's second round. PGA Tour staff recorded the cause as a neck injury.

Clark was 4 over par for the round and for the tournament at the time of the withdrawal on Friday afternoon. He had shot an opening-round 72.

The 31-year-old, winner of the U.S. Open in 2023, had tied for second at The Players in 2024 when his putt to force a playoff narrowly missed.

He is the third withdrawal since Thursday. Jason Day and Victor Perez both withdrew before the start of play, replaced by alternates Danny Walker and Ricky Castillo.
