Xavier assistant Mack promoted to coach (AP)

Xavier has promoted assistant Chris Mack to succeed Sean Miller as basketball coach. The university said Tuesday there will be a news conference Wednesday . Mack was the top assistant to Miller, who left last week to coach Arizona. He inherits a team that went 27-8 last season and reached the round of 16 in the NCAA tournament before losing to Pittsburgh.
