I bought a game from Best Buy just a little over a month. For some reason, there is a bunch of scratches on the CD now. I am guessing it happened sometime between the last 3 days because the game is freezing out of nowhere now when I try to play. I never took the CD out of the tray until now.

Any idea what is up?

Did you move the XBOX from vertical to horizontal with the disk in it?

Does this mean the game is completely destroyed and 60 bucks is wasted? :pullhair:

You're not supposed to move it with the disk inside, but the biggest problem usually occurs when moving the xbox while it is on. At any rate, I think you should be covered under the game's warranty since you bought it a month ago. Call 1-800-4MYXBOX and ask about a replacement.

I called up that number and they led me to this website. If I pay $22.50 and send in the game, they will replace it for me.

Before you do that, go and try to get the disc repaired. Some places will charge you 12 bucks or so. They can usually buff any scratches out of disc.

I actually bought a DVD/GAME DISC scratch repair kit for such issues. They are not cheap but they have worked and saved me some of my old DVD movies and games.

Any stores that does that? I am pretty clueless about this subject, I never knew a disc even could be repaired.

If you want to try and do it yourself, you can try hair conditioner (no joke, I've had pretty good success with this). First rub a little bit of hair conditioner along the bottom surface of the disc, then completely rinse it off with water. Make sure you fully dry the disc with a soft cloth or toilet paper, being careful not to scratch the disc while doing this of course. It doesn't always work but does well with minor to moderate levels of disc damage.

Try a used game store. They do it. Game Crazy does it inside of Blockbuster and I think all the Game Stops do as well. Just give them a call before you do down there.

I took it to Game Crazy today and repaired it. It was only 2 bucks. The game works pretty good now but still it freezes once in a while. I played for couple hours, froze around 2 times, all when connected to Xbox live.

Thanks for all the help, appreciate it.
