I came across this article when I was looking for info about ways to hack a dvr so that I can copy tv shows to a portable media player.

Does anyone here do anything like that?

I just ended up buying a Tivo..... It's really cool, just a pain in the butt with the way my house is set up.

I'm thinking about getting a dvr, but only if I can find a way to transfer shows from it to a pmp.

It's like some big secret - nobody talks about doing that, like it's illegal or something.
