"Year of Reckoning" said it all. Winning 1/2 the season's games isn't going to do it.

If I see the Cardinals selling those cheap rinky dink JC Penny Cardinal logo hats in Flagstaff next month, I know its going to be a heartbreaker year again.

Same here. Completely agree. They have to do something this year with the talent and new stadium.

Anything less than a playoff berth would be horrible.

Only beef I have is the "good coaching" comment. Green has proven he can get talent. But his on field coaching decisions and his hiring of certain assistants leaves a lot to be desired. He needs to get better regardless of his Vikings history.

Frankly, I think that we may still be one year away. And that would be from a serious superbowl run. I think that if things don't go are way this year, we could go 8-8. But that would be NO reason for anybody to jump of the bandwagon. Even at 8-8, this team will give us more exciting moments this year than 15 of 16 years in the valley. I understand the point of the article, but it is a bit drastic.

I for one, wont be "jumping off of the bandwagon" if we find ourselves just outside the playoffs this year.

Heres to home field advantage in the Super Bowl in 08. Anything 9-7 or beyond this year would be absolute gravy.

Iagree. Even though there seems to be a team every year that goes from a handful of wins one year to the payoffs the next, that doesn't mean it's easy. More likely is that we'll gradually bump up our win totals every year.

Not to say we cn't do it, but it's not doom and gloom if we turn it around more slowly.

Their master's voice is telling us they need one more year

Dear Len and Mike

Kingman Cardinals is a catchy name for a football team.

I agree with Jim that "the stars are all in alignment." But I don't believe that (a) this absolutely means everything will go as planned or (b) this represents the team's final chance in the Valley.

Football is a game of probablilities and possibilities; not certainty.

The Cards are making the right percentage moves. Other factors in the marketplace seem to be favoring us. It positions the team to be successful. But that's all it does - it gives us a good horse running out of a good post position.

Bleep can (and usually does) happen - Injuries. Zebras. Attitude. Mind Cramps. Our Competition. You do the very best you can to anticipate and manage unforeseen circumstances, but you can't control everything. You hope that the breaks fall our way - or at least 50-50; but, given our past history, I wouldn't bet the store on this.

That said; I'm really excited about the way things are unfolding (the same way I look forward to a big juicy side of beef on the BBQ). But should a rainstorm wipe out the BBQ, I won't starve. And if things shouldn't break in our favor, I'm not going to reach for the Roladex to call Dr. Kevorkian either.

There will always be another day.

I will go out on a limb and say that most people on this board will not jump off the bandwagon if we don't make the playoffs this year. Hey if we can make it through the Mac years we can survive yet another disappointing season. It's the fair weather fans that will leave by the thousands.

I have to agree witht that, I've seen even Super Bowl contending type teams here in KC crash and never make the playoffs.

One year dosen't mean much, I think they will do well but you'd have to analyze why they didn't before you could really be bummed about it.

All the moves are in the right direction.

That's huge in itself.

Be happy!

My Kool Aid buzz is wearing off....and I'm starting to get worried.

I see a pretty tough schedule at home. SF/STL/DET are the games that we really should win. KC and DAL will be tough. We'll realistically need to beat SEA at home to make the playoffs. DEN and CHI will be no cakewalk.

A stupid coaching decision could cost us any one of those games. We need to come out much better prepared this season.

It's the NFL...

8-8 could put the Cards in the playoffs;
10-6 and they could be on the outside looking in (just ask KC)

Anything better than another losing season, I'll consider a successful season!

Has anyone jumped on the bandwagon? It seems like mostly the same old posters who have endured years of losing to me.

I think what Skkorp said has been said by many people, in many ways, every single preseason in my memory. Doesn't everyone remember how big last year was supposed to be so that new stadium would get filled? It was another lousy season yet the stadium is sold out anyhow. And most of that was done "pre-Edge". You can't kill the optimism of the insane.

I said it before and I'll say it again with respect to the Cardinals:

offseason = Hope
regular season = Reality

Of course I want the Cardinals to do well. This team has become an obsession for me. (checking out this message board daily, even in July when nothing is happening, is one of the symptoms).

Anyway, suppose the Cardinals go 6-10 this year. There will be a lot of upset fans, but, history has shown us that if they sign a couple more free agent studs and have another solid draft, the optimisim for this team will soar and memories of the previous season's failures will fade.

At least that has been the pattern for as long as I can remember with this team.

That being said, I hope for the best for this team.
