This is a list of who is assumed to be under contract for the 2005-2006 season, although there is a chance that some funky provision in a new CBA could alter this.

The 19 Coyotes under contract for next season are:
G= B Johnson
D = Tanabe, Gauthier, Hulse, O'Donnell
F = Chimera, Comrie, Devereaux, Doan, Hull, M Johnson, Kolanos, Nagy, Nash, Nedved, Rupp, Ricci, Savage, Saprykin

The restricted free agents as of July 1, 2005 would be
Boucher, Cleary, Ference, Mara, Morris, Nazarov

Note: this does not include players currently in AHL Utah. LeNeveu, Ballard, Spiller, Sjostrom, Taffe, and a handful of others will have a chance to make the team.

Thats not a bad core still under contract, I cant imagine very many teams being in good shape when the lockout is over due to contracts expiring. Of course, there are some holes to fill, Morris and Mara definately need to be resigned looking at the Defense, and it will be critical to address the goaltending situation.

Early Line-up of guys under contract (will certainly change):

Nagy - Comrie - Doan
M Johnson - Nedved - Hull
Saprykin - Ricci - Kolanos
Nash - Rupp - Chimera

Tanabe - Gauthier
Hulse - O'Donnell
Ballard - Spiller

B. Johnson
D. LeNeveu

For some reason, I thought the one positive thing about the lockout is that Savage's contract would expire. Well, at least I'll have something positive to think about if this thing lasts another year.

Or would he still be under contract? :confused:

I just read that David Tanabe did not attend the World's in order to "spend more time with his family". ???. He played in Sweden for three months. Hello??? You don't have a job, how much time do you need with your family?!. :lame:

That was his given reason, yes. It was also surprising to see that neither Mara or Ballard were given an invite after supposedly in the mix early in the selection process. Either one would have been better than Andy Roach, who I believe has been playing in the German leagues. Ladislav Nagy was dropped from the Slovak team after sustaining a shoulder injury in one of the last practice games before the WCs. He has flown back to Phoenix to get it evaluated, it could possibly need surgery. That leaves Shane Doan as the only notable Yote playing in this year's WCs, playing of course for Canada.

That list was created by Jerry Brown of the Tribune, but I think you might be right about Savage. I think he was given a three year deal, so this would have been his third year.
