Amare Stoudemire is good as gone...

Why?

- 2010 Player opt-out, He will most likely opt out.
- If he stays, he will demand a MAX deal.
- Would you give Stoudemire a MAX deal knowing he is only good at offense and has negative impact defensively?
- That and the risk he will require knee "clean-up"... "repair" call it what you want, most likely 2 seasons from now. Which pretty much makes him useless for a season before he heals.. then its basically a cycle all over again.
- And we all know Kerr's thoughts on who the MAX players are in the league.

- Nash, O'Neal are expiring in 2010. They need to build around a younger and more "impactful" star. Stoudemire is best only as a side kick to another star, preferrably this time around who plays "D". But why would you pay him 20 Million a year to be a second star... assuming he stays.

So for who?

- I'm hoping a swing man like Rudy Gay. Keeps getting better.
- Aldridge + Fernandez, copy the Piston's "multiple-star" team, as opposed to having 1 or 2 "super stars".
- Brook Lopez + Vince Carter... Brook is a 20/10/3 player when playing 30+ minutes. Vince is bonus.
But Net's GM isnt a fool....

- Maybe Brand.. but he has 5 years left.... unlikely. BUT... he is relatively good value at 13.5 Million per year.
- Jermaine O'Neal, might as well have 20 million coming off next season. Starts off the re-building, then puts the final icing in 2010, as Nash and O'Neal expires..

- Warrior's for Biedrins and future picks.
- Knicks.... Lee + filler.... D'Antoni doesnt mind Stoudemire not playing defense.

- To Cavs for Ben Wallace + picks... LeBron gets his ring, as the team's overall defense can "hide" Stoudemire somehow.

- Charlie Villanueva + Ramon Sessions + Richard Jefferson

- To Bulls, for Hughes, Hinrich, Noah + first pick 2010... Barbosa needs to be added. But Hinrich should offset that.

C: O'Neal/Lopez
PF: Noah/Admundson
SF: Richardson/Barnes
SG: Hinrich/Hill
PG: Nash/Dragic

looks okay, cant be worse than current team... atleast a rebounder in Noah, defense/shooting in Hinrich who can replace Nash and hopefully tutor Dragic... Richardson moves to the 3 spot, Hill comes off the bench.

Maybe, Hill and Nash staying back to talk to management, was to get their feelings... maybe asking them if they want to stay and try one more time and/or be traded to contenders.

Bulls don't want Barbosa, no way they could accept him, they have already got one, Gordon.

Though I like Hinrich very much, getting him is too much trouble. Paxon loves him and his contract is a bit too big/long to take for us.

Send Amare to OKC for Wilcox, Watson and an unprotected first rounder is a similar deal, but much easier to get done.

Watson is not a creative playmaker, but he is one of the best defensive PG in the league. Wilcox defends way better than Noah right now, and he has an impressive rebound rate.

Good list. However, I think only the following are possible - the rest not because the stars involved have huge contracts that run more than a year (Vince, Jefferson, Hughes, Wallace, etc). Suns are apparently looking for cap space:

- a swing man like Rudy Gay. Keeps getting better.
- Aldridge + Fernandez, copy the Piston's "multiple-star" team, as opposed to having 1 or 2 "super stars".

I really like the Portland one - not sure why they do it, though. I suppose if Oden can stay healthy, he and Amare would make a good team. Aldridge is going to be good though (already is).

Aldridge+Fernandez does not work straight up, but if you add the LaFrentz expiring contract it does. I don't see Portland doing it though. Oh and btw, Aldridge is a worse rebounder than Stoudemire. Not sure if it's b/c of skill/effort, or having better rebounders around him in Portland.

Thats so much crap.. half of these players aren't even going to be half as good as Amare is now.

And what's a lottery pick worth, a 10% chance of getting someone with 70% of Amare's talent at best imo. A 0.1% chance of getting someone equal or better.

And of course you pay Amare the max, he is still one of the best players in the league and a big and especially when he is featured in the offense.

Not according to Kerr's MAX player list....

Amare doesnt anchor the defense for a big man... only big man who doesnt even average 10 rebounds with a max contract (IF he stays and gets the max).

He isnt a dominant do-it-all like Kobe, Paul, James....

so he is 25+ ppg scorer who grabs rebounds like a big small forward... and a career night for opposite big men..... thats not a max player.

slinslin... amare is OUT as far as Kerr is concerned...

If the Suns is getting a good deal... I'm ALL for it.. if not.. then I'd stay pat.
But... Suns WILL most likely miss the playoffs and just rot for the next 2 seasons... Stoudemire LEAVES either way in 2010... why stay and play for a loser....

So if you are the owener/GM... what do you do?

Amare doesn't leave as long as the Suns pay him which they should.

This message board really has gone down the toilet just like almost the entire Suns fanbase.

Yeah trading Amare for crap, just to trade him is ********!! Backing the front office is even more ********. I would only Condone this deal if its to get players that fit the system, for example Amare and Leandro for Chandler and Peja, Get the spacing you need a guy who can rebound and blocks shots and guys who could more clearly define a system for the Suns. This team is put together like a kid playing NBA2k on Xbox, Suns would be great on a video game, but this team just does not fit well together. But dumping Amare is ********.

there have been rumors about Portland sending LaFrentz to milwaukee for jefferson. I don't think they're targeting someone like amare right now.
