Max Hall will be starting about 1/2 way thru the season...

He'll be the "Cinderella"-story and we'll make a late push for the play-offs. GO CARDS! :D

Hall has to sit for at least a year. I like him a lot, but would not feel comfortable with him starting right now when it counts. People are proclaiming the Cards are a 7-9 team at best with DA. If Hall was the starter this season I do not see this team winning more than 5 games tops.

Maybe we should start yelling for Locker. He just threw a beautiful TD against Halls' cougars

Agreed, however, you never know, maybe Hall is the once in a generation miracle story of a completely under the radar guy who is just poised to be a great pro.

I dont understand what there is to be wrong about...? He has been very good with every opportunity he has been given. Cant ask any more than that. He hasnt just done OK, he has been very good.

Disagree.

1st off Hall will be 25 in a month, so he's not a kid. 2nd he has shown he can handle NFL pressure, even if it is 2nd or 3rd teamers.

I am absolutely fine with him as our #2.

It definitely is not over. Let's just say Derek Anderson plays like it's 2007 again (which I think is a definite possibility with our offensive weapons). He's going to have his great days where he will throw for 3-4 TD's and maybe one pick, if any at all. He is also going to have his bad days (remember, you can't spell bad with out DA) where he throws 2 to 3 interceptions with 1 TD pass or none at all. We just have to hope he starts off with some of those good games and not the bad ones to gain confidence in the fans, or things are going to get very, very interesting. And this is assuming he plays like the 2007 Derek Anderson, not the 2009 version.

As am I, but to make him a starter out of the gates would be a huge mistake IMO. He has shown he is capable, but could use more time learning the system. I think Max Hall is going to be a very special player, I just don't want him to start right away. If DA can't cut it, or something happens I would have no problem with Hall coming in.

remember: Kurt Warner has had days where he turned the ball over lots: last year it was Carolina with 5, three other games with 2. This doesnt count the fumbles

If he can do what Kurt did in all of the other games than we are fine. ;)

Max Hall will be starting this year, there is no doubt in my mind.

That has more to do with Derek Anderson than it does to do with Hall, though.

I watched him a lot in college and thought he didn't stand a chance in the NFL. Still don't know if he is capable of succeeding at this level. Therefore, I hope I am wrong.

Never said anything about not being impressed with what he has done here thus far.

If DA plays like the 2009 version and throws 10 Interceptions for every 3 TDs the Cards are going 2-14. OK maybe not 2-14 because he won't be QB after about week 4.

However, we did survive a season like that with Plummer where Jake and Brown combined to throw 30 INTs and only 11 TD passes. The Cards also averaged only 3.0 ypc rushing.

Actually won 6 games that year.

So, what was the downside of Max Hall. Any BYU fans than really have a good handle on what his weaknesses are?

Not a BYU fan, but watched almost all of the games because I knew a number of people who played there.

Coughs the ball up often when sacked. Doesn't throw a big time deep ball (as you saw in that completion to Komar). Is ultra competitive, which is good, but can let mistakes compound and try to do too much, leading to more mistakes. I know people often talk about his moxie and composure, but he has definitely showed that he can be rattled. Below average arm strength, but more zip on the ball then Matt had. I question his ability to throw difficult passes, such as a deep out, to the far side of the field. Sometimes fails to spot linebackers in coverage between the hashes (don't know if this is a result of his height or not). Really struggled in big games, against top-level competition, though he played well in his final bowl game.

That said, you won't see a more accurate passer in short and intermediate routes. Anticipates routes well, knows his receivers, and puts the ball where it needs to be. Will find the open man and spread the ball around to various receivers (like Kurt, but obviously not to that extent). Will find a way to make plays when plays breakdown. Has a good understanding of the game and usually reads coverages well.

That is a really good assessment, Binkar. Completely consistent with what I saw in camp.

He zips his short passes and has a quick release. During the garbage can drill his long passes were ugly, which is why I posted the Max to Max thread which surprised me.

Most importantly, he has a super-fast release and has it between the ears.

As much as I like Max I hope that isn't the case because if that is true we have lost a lot of games or DA got hurt. Both ways would be horrible for us as fans and our team.

DA is no Kurt Warner, I think we'll vomit up our playoff chances weve been fed soon enough.
