Apr. 8—RONAN — Nico Young threw a five-inning, four-hit shutout and Jory Hill had two hits and drove in two runs Monday as Columbia Falls beat Ronan 12-0 in high school baseball.

The Wildcats (3-0) put up four runs in the third and fifth innings to put away the Chiefs (0-2) early under the mercy rule. Reggie Sapa drove in a run and scored three times. Jett Pitts and Young each scored twice.

Trenton DeRosa's double was the only extra-base hit for the Cats, who had 10 safeties to go with seven walks and issued by three Ronan pitchers: Liam Wills, Ben Mitchell and Chad Higgins.

Hunter Luedtke had three of the Chiefs' four hits, including a leadoff double in the third. He advanced no further. Young issued three walks and struck out seven for C-Falls.
