Your choice of whether you choose by gameplay fun or biggest impact on your life.

And dont tell me Pong, or super mario or anything on NES.

Please. Nostalgia is fun, but those games were cool because you didnt know any better. :)

Im a bit sensitive, so story wins over gameplay for me.

Metal Gear Solid

What a story. The gameplay itself was so innovative too. Hold the O button, you choke guys unconcious. Double Tap the O button, you break their neck. WOW. Such control over life and death for a 10 year old. The story was a masterpiece. That goes to say all the MGS games are amazingly well written. Snake Eater is 2A. But MGS1 holds the top spot in my heart.

Was that the one with 2 discs for ps1? that one was sweet.

I dont think I could name an all time game, far too many favorites.

I have no choice but to violate the rules. My all time favorite game is Bandit Kings of Ancient China (NES). I still play it regularly and it's not out of nostalgia. It's a turn based strategy game and I have cleared it several thousand times and I still enjoy it.

Madden

Sent from my Galaxy S2 the iPhone killer

Which one? Depending on which era, they are very different. Im a fan of 2007. Prior to the launch into the realistic version. I liked the old cartoony feel.

Tough choices happen everyday. Be strong.

YEah, had the 2 disks. The Codec (basically in-game phone number) for one of your contatcs can only be found in the illustration on the back of the case. Mind friggin blown. Also, Psycho Mantis (Boss fight) takes over your control so you have to take it out and plug it into the 2nd player port for it to work. WHAT?!!! He also reads your memory card of everything stored on it and tellls you what type of viderogame player you are (cautious, reckless, etc.). DEVIL MAGIC!

Not to mention that game had some of the most memorable charatcers and deaths in game history.

I forgot about the controller switching and such - that game was awesome.

Tecmo super bowl too - spent so many hours on that game.

I would first have to fashion a top 20 before I could pick a #1.

too many to count. I'd say most of them were on the NES too. Not sure why you want me to exclude them.

Dragon Warrior
Mike Tyson's Punchout
Super Tecmo Bowl
Track & Field

All 4 were NES games and all were very important to me. I can't pick between them.

Mario 64 was another huge game for me.

My favorite Dreamcast game was Shenmue and it isn't as good as those 4 as I listed.

I think it's an age thing as suggested by his "games were cool because you didn't know any better". Obviously, games have improved in many ways since the NES days but my favorites are all on that system. Dragon Warrior 1-4, Final Fantasy, Metroid, Zelda (and Z 2), Romance of the Three Kingdoms, Nobunaga's Ambition, Arkanoid, Gradius were all a lot of fun and most of them are still enjoyable today.

Circus Circus from Atari was the first game I ever flipped the score, I would love to get that at the crib. Techmo bowl is the only old school Nintendo I'll still play. Madden, but everybody did or still does that one. Mastered Tony Hawk when it was new. Street Fighter, my friends gave me restrictions so they would still play, it was like that.

I have track and field on xbox, still jam it occasionally. Punch out was an obsession at a young age.

Mario 64 was epic when it came out.

Cmon Man!

Tell me if you were 10 years old again and had your choice of Double Dragon, or Call of Duty 4, which would you take?

I get that in 30 years, the games I love now will be obsolete, but still. Those old sidescorllers had less technology than my current TV's remote control.

these days youd probably take call of duty if offered the 2 of them but double dragon was friggin awesopme and easily qualifies for favorite game postings :)

Its like comparing walter payton to adrian peterson. Different era, different rules, different technology. You can have a favorite but to say one is better than the other is kinda apples to oranges

Otherwise, noone can like the first star wars because the new transofrmers has way brighter lights flashing on the screen than star wars did.

Super Mario Kart SNES

that is the only mario kart I liked. Scratch, that I LOVED. the other ones were all weak but only because of comparisons to the best one ever!

Bleh

I hate transformers and The Avengers and 20 minute explosiony alien fight scenes.

Im a plot enthsiast. Star Wars was uniqe. Even nowadays, nothing as creative as Star Wars has come out (Avatar comes close, but even that stole from alot of movies). .

The characters were so distinct. In the first star Wars movie, Boba Fett had like 6-7 total minutes of screen time, and yet he was one of the favorite characters thereafter.

Tecmo Super Bowl would top my list. And yes, I've played it recently.

The original Resident Evil would be number 2, and Metal Gear Solid would be my third favorite.
