Just saw Red Devil (my favorite) on Mcdowell is temporarily closed due to a kitchen fire - that's pretty much my only spot in this area :(

There are two other Red Devil locations. One in Phoenix that's 15 miles away from the McDowell spot and one in Tempe which is less than 9 miles away.

Is Nello's still there? Back in college (early 90's) it was the best!

Pomo in downtown Phoenix is also a great spot. Great drinks and pasta, also.

Yeah, there's one in Mesa, Ahwatukee, and Scottsdale I think. Their salad dressing is awesome too.

The Scottsdale one has been gone for a few years now unless it moved and is hiding. I used to go to the gym next to it that's also gone now.

When I ate pizza, I always liked the Famous Ray's Pizza up at FLW and the 101.

My favorites are Grimaldi’s, Upper Crust, and Bianco.. I’m also a huge sucker for Peter Piper Pizza because that’s what I grew up on, but I know they ain’t gourmet!

WAY back when, there was a place in Phoenix called Franks. I think on Indian School? They had "The Deal". It was a large 1-topping pizza and 50 wings for $20. Best damn deal in the valley and the wings were no joke.

Also, when I was a kid our end-of-season soccer league party was always held at Organ Stop. The organist would play the Star Wars theme and it was glorious.

I remember when I was at UofA my freshman year there was a pizza joint I think called Mamma Mia's? They had like a 48" diameter pizza that we used to get and fed like the half of the rugby team.

Wife bought me a pizza oven for Father's Day. We played around with it for a couple of days, then flew out to Florida, June 5th. We fly back home next week. I can't wait to get started using that oven again. I love my pizza.

Bianco (If you ever watched the Chef's Table series on Netflix...then you know)
LAMP (Traditional Neapolitan style. Extremely fresh ingredients. Stellar!)
Pizzeria Virtu (Chef Gio Osso, who also owns Virtu Honest Craft, opened this cozy joint as well. Excellent Neapolitan style pizza and great pasta!)
POMO (Another Neapolitan style pizza. I typically go for the Rimini Style, which is even thinner and more crispy than their Neapolitan)

After that, most of the rest tend to blend all together with little to no clear distinction...with the once exception being Spinato's, who's pizza is very different than any other Pizza in the valley. Family who owns it is from New Jersey...

Chicago deep dish: Lou Malnati’s
Chicago thin crust: Spinatos

Grimaldis is good, so is Rosatis

Venezia and NYPD are decent

Nellos if it still exists is inedible

Oreganos has gone down hill, especially once the original owners sold.

Yeah, there's one in Mesa, Ahwatukee, and Scottsdale I think. Their salad dressing is awesome too.

I worked at the one in Ahwatukee when I was younger. Didn't care for the pizza, but loved dousing a turkey sandwich with the house dressing.

For me Jimmy and Joe's is by far the best and really the only pizza I'll eat if I'm going to take the junk food hit. Grimaldi's potentially being the only exception if I want something a bit lighter.
