Suarez struck out 36% of the time in 2023. Let's hope he improves on that rate in 2024. He's not in his 20s anymore.

Being in Seattle, I watch a fair amount of the M’s. Geno has power but does strike out alot. He’ll probably benefit from playing in a more hitter friendly park than T-mobile though, which is notoriously hard on hitters. His defense is legit

I immediately thought of Venezuelan Mark Reynolds too. Upgrade over what we had last year but all of the Ks!

I like the move but I have to say if you strike out that much it really doesn’t matter how hitter friendly a park may be lol

Reynold’s strikeouts were acceptable b/c of his power. Suarez doesn’t have that kind of pop.

Mark Reynolds 13 seasons Total WAR 6.8

Eugenio Suarez 10 seasons Total WAR 20.5

The only similarities between them is the strikeouts.

My son is a Reds fan, so I follow them a bit. We go to spring training practices, etc.

Geno is a presence and you all will love him.

Great clubhouse and community guy.

Good defender. Streaky with the bat with a good amount of pop.

Maybe his power numbers were inflated a little in the great american bandbox. Maybe they were deflated a little in a tougher Seattle stadium.

I think he'll fit well into AZ and the NL West stadiums

For essentially a free upgrade, I'm not seeing a downside to pulling this move

Makes me nervous when one tan seems to have fleeced another like the Mariners know something the Dbacks didn’t. Overall though this seems like a good trade minus his age.
