Tom Leander is hard to listen to.

Ive met and talked with him in person, but every time I hear him talk I think Chris Farely is back and doing an NFL skit on SNL

"This Tampa-2 formation the cards are running is just turning their opponents into geldings!"

"Geldings?"

''That's a neutered stallion!"

We're very lucky to have a guy like EJ. I wouldn't say he is never wrong but he not only gets it right most of the time - he picks out fine points of the game. In the Orlando game, for instance, there was melee down near the hoop which Amare broke out of to get an easy shot - EJ said that Nash had set a pick for him. I backed up to review it and sure enough there was Stevie screening out Howard.

The only thing I don't like about him is that he doesn't talk much about the coaching moves the Suns make and I'm sure he would come up with some enlightening comments. Now and then he'll let something slip - a subtle criticism.

The fox orlando tv commentators picked up the nash pick too. They actually sounded like they had a secret crush on the suns a couple times.

I can't believe what Im reading.

First of all, I think Eddie Johnson is one of the best commentators out there. He doesn't just repeat what just happened like we didn't see it, he'll point what angle a guy has to take or whatever to prevent it from happening again. And his laugh is pretty funny too.

As far as who sux, Gary Bender is probably the worst announcer in the history of sports. Not only is he excruciatingly repetitive (and all of a sudden), he's got absolutely no clue whats going on.

"And do we have a foul?" - Gary Bender

"No, three seconds you moron". - DSF

"And theyre gonna call it out Bell" - Bender

"No..its on the other team....and Im not watching from halfcourt" - DSF.

That had me laughing out loud, because I do the same thing when I have to listen to Bender. I get so frustrated because they've already announced the call over the loudspeaker, and Bender is still trying to figure it out. Thunder Dan has to correct him a lot, and you can tell sometimes he has to pick his spots because it happens so often.

Leander just plain reminds me of a local homer who sometimes has trouble finding the line between being a homer, and being a good local broadcaster who can recognize other teams other than the Suns. He would especially drive me nuts last year when they'd swap out Dan or EJ for someone from the other team's broadcast team. All he'd do is push how good the Suns were on the other guy, and completely neglect to say more than 2 sentences about the other team.

"Raja that"

"The Suns are beginning to percalate (sp)"

"The net result"

I can't stand those phrases.

Yes, I know, but most people who would have to enjoy the suns via internet are probably investing their time into finding a video feed before a local AM broadcaster's feed...

That local AM feed is broadcasted live, generally speaking video is not always available.

I only know this because I know this old blind lady in Canada who is a huge Al McCoy fan, and I know a couple of fans over in Europe who complain about having to wait for the games and don't get to see them live.

Well put me down for EJ he's the best color guy in the NBA. EJ gives you the inside view of a player, he knows the game. He also states his criticisms with a low key style that I like. Eddie gives insight to coaching strategy as the adjustments happen, and also opins about what the players are thinking, he's the only reason I leave the volume up. Most fans can learn a thing or two about basketball just from listening to Eddie. Oleander is a cheerleader with a knack of creating akward situations. I can only tolerate him if Eddie is his color guy.

I don't mind Leander as much as Bender, but I do like EJ and Thunder Dan. Apparently the Suns don't get enough criticism of the TV play by play guys because there has never been a hint of any push for a change.

If you think Leander is a homer, then what does that make Bender?

I remember watching Penny Hardaway come back for four games (after his microfracture)...he was basically playing on one leg and looked terrible...but not to Bender:

"Boy, these two (Kidd and Hardaway) really look like something special right now."

(Penny misses a layup)
"In a couple months, Penny's gonna be dunking that ball"
