During the Doug & Wolf show this morning (Friday) they played a portion of an interview that Wolfley had with Whiz on Tuesday that will play in full this weekend. Whiz said that one of the reasons he made the decision to go with Hall was that there was so much pressure on DA to play a perfect game. He said that if Hall does poorly he would bring DA in to relieve him. Whiz feels DA would do better coming in and relieving him than starting. That seems to be the plan.

There has to be a book somewhere that gives coaches these quotes.

That is absolutely stupid. He is basically saying that he expects Hall to fail to some extent, and that is when he will do his magic and bring in DA to save the day. The Ace in the hole bit doesn't work when your Ace is a Joker.

I think there might be something to DA being better as a #2. I always said the same thing about Plummer--he'd be the very best #2 QB in the NFL because he takes chances with the ball; when it works, it's a beautiful thing. Same with DA's big arm. When it connnects it's amazing and can score points in a hurry--but if he misses, so what? we're likely already down so far it kinda doesn't matter.

Then he should have started Hall day 1. Whis is supposed to be smarter than us and needs to have had that figured out by now.

He's had plenty of chances being down this season. I haven't seen that amazing connection since 2007. I don't think he is a capable NFL QB period. He is a head case with zero ability to perform when he needs to.

I stopped paying much attention to what NFL head coaches say a long time ago.

Fine. He is on his 3rd starting QB and none of them have been injured. What say you about that?

yeah dont make max look over his shoulder from minute one right?

It's this lack of confidence in his QB that ruined ML's head. Whiz is not good at letting people know he believes in them, whether he does or not. A young QB will do better if he knows you have his back.

1)Leinart - already covered that
2) DA- gave it a shot - failed
3) Hall (after a few weeks of getting feet wet learning how to gameplan watch films) next man up

I think there's 2 lines of thinking here. One, it's entirely possible Max won't play well, they did win the superbowl last year, we are missing 2 of our 3 best WR's. And the OL sucks right now.

So you gotta be prepared for the possibility that DA has to play. You just benched him 3 1/2 games into the season for a UDFA rookie QB, his confidence was lacking before the benching, imagine what it's like now?

So you try to pump him up some in case he has to come in.

The other is, Whiz really believes DA can play better off the bench, there are guys who do because they get to watch what's going on before they have to see it in action.

Exactly...it's like some people have never heard of the concept of "coachspeak".

Is there a sixth man of the year award in the NFL or something? Come on Whis, Anderson is not good in any circumstance. The only relief appearence he should make coming off the bench is to get Max Hall a cup of Gatorade.

QB is the one position where you need stability.

Agreed.

And anyone up against, second guessing and his good friend hindsight is going to have a tough time looking smart.

99% is not acceptable.
