No reason to risk it.
agreed. our trade backs the last two years had us miss out on Will Anderson and DeJean Cooper. You add those two guys to this defense and they are a force to be reckoned with. Instead we got a solid if not spectacular T and a CB who's got a lot to prove. give me the two guys who look like bona-fide stars and possible superstars over solid and a ?.

Knowing what we knew at the time (not now) - I would still do the Houston trade 10 times out of 10. Should have been 2 top 5-10 picks.
2nd worst record in the NFL with a rookie QB (2nd choice off the board). We got Cardinal'd.

What I would have done differently is move up last year vs staying and selecting Robinson (with Houston's pick). He may end up being a solid player but I didn't like the pick.

Sure. My point is that we still don't have a wrecker. We will be better, but I am salivating at this DT class. There are potential wreckers and we should be able to get one in the first.
If last year taught us anything it’s that we can never have enough good D-linemen. Would definitely be ok drafting another DT and Edge.

Seriously? You DON'T think we've upgraded at Edge? Sweat is an upgrade over anything we had on the roster. Unless you completely missed the point in my post?
Was not trying to call you out.

Was asking upgrade compared to what. Huge difference between on paper and actuals players because we had 3-4 DT miss the entire seasons

Will Anderson is a superstar regardless of where he plays, but I just refuse to believe DeJean would have had the same success with us had we drafted him.

Yep, much easier to play cornerback in the NFL when you have the best front seven playing in front of you…..

I like Nolen, but I like Grant better. Harmon is not far behind. I’m therefore okay with a small move down.

Question harry. Now that we have signed Tomlinson and Sweat would it be worth it for the Cards to consider moving UP to get a stud DL or Edge or not? My initial thought yesterday was OL and WR are now much more likely but I still want another DL or Edge. Before you may have been thinking we need all our picks in order to fill all our needs, but with 2 of them being checked off already does that maybe increase the odds of moving up to get someone you think is going to be a difference maker? If so is there someone good enough to do that for?

I read something today that said the Giants are now much more interested in moving back now they're looking at Aaron Rodgers and Russell Wilson and actively expected to sign one of them, which again goes to my thread about Shedeur Sanders, it's apparently far less likely they will take Sanders.

I don't think we need to move up to 3rd unless Abdul Carter were there?

Despite Dejean playing slot corner for the Eagles, I do think he would have been able to beat out SMB or Starting Thomas before the season end. Max was firmly the CB4 the entire year.

Justin Jones will be 29 when the season kicks off
Bilal Nichols turns 29 before Halloween
Dante Stills turns 26 in December (he's three weeks younger than Trey McBride)

All three are under contract through 2026. If you're a good GM, you're probably planning for a year ahead, and you're willing to take a more high-upside, developmental prospect at IDL and Edge with an eye toward playing him 20-30% of the defensive snaps in Year 1 and have him ready to start in year 3.

But if looking ahead, a future RT in the 1st would be 1st priority

Looking at the Cardinals Defensive Front so far headed into the season:

OLB Josh Sweat, Zaven Collins, X Thomas
DT Darius Robinson, LJ Collier
NT Dalvin Tomlinson, Bilal Nichols
DT Justin Jones, Dante Stills
OLB Baron Browning, BJ Ojulari

Looks like the Cardinals are finally starting to get some real depth on the defensive side of the ball. Plus I'm guessing that the Cardinals will add at least 1 or 2 more players to the defensive front through the draft.

I have a sneaky suspicion we'll sign BJs brother too.
