If Durant didn't want the trade, I don't think the Suns had a choice when it comes down to completing a trade.
They could have done it but that is what I am saying above. You don't want to be "that team".

Yeah, but would have the Warriors done it under the circumstances?

I think not, so ultimately, I don't think the Suns had a choice when it came to Golden State.

In a hypothetical, if The Suns were going to "just do it', they don't even discuss it with Durant until they pull the trigger and agree to the deal. That's not what happened but those that say they should have just done it? That's likely how it happens IMO. It's just not realistic. I think they should have took the deal but the reality of the situation is different. I don't see how they could have even if I thought it was a good deal for the Suns.

It takes an offer acceptance and in a contract, a meeting of the minds. I'm not sure if the Suns ever had that in the proposed trade with the Warriors.

The Suns will work with Kevin Durant and his business partner on a trade destination per Shams Charania.

Unless the Suns didn't think there was a capable interim head coach on staff and the right players, it doesn't make a lot of sense they didn't try one. IMO, they still would be much further ahead in regard to player development and sorting out the right pieces to go forward. They might have even made the play-in or playoffs depending on when the change was made.

Trading Nurkic with a first round pick and not replacing him was a flashing red light.

Everything still revolves around Devin Booker as he remains a foundation piece per Shams Charania.

Below is a video snippet.

Gambo is saying that the Suns have known they were going to fire Bud for some time now. This wasn't a sudden or end of the year decision.

I'm still perplexed why the Suns didn't hire an interim head coach, considering the disconnect with players and the terrible defense.

Maybe the Suns felt they didn't want to go with David Fizdale as head coach and another change within would be divisive.

A creative GM could build a fun squad around Booker to carry us through the dark days ahead without our picks. If our picks aren't available then being a fun gritty team is best we can hope for until 2032 when we start controlling our own destiny.

Ishbia needs to focus on baseball now and James Jones needs to update his resume. Neither can be involved with the retool. Anyone who approved of the KD or Beal moves needs to be removed from any basketball decisions.

If they knew, then why didn't they just move on from him to try and salvage a play-in run. We would still lose out, but someone else managing the lineups and schemes could have sparked something, if anything. I guess at what point did they decide they weren't going keep Bud is unknown.

Sounds to me they likely thought the problem was much bigger than coaching. Then again if that was the case, why is this FO still intact?

JJ's contract is up. He doesn't really need fired. It just needs to be official we're hiring someone else to take over for the draft, free agency, and coaching search. It wouldn't be a true firing though since his deal is up.
