Are we feeling the Lakers pain. No, I don't think so.

I think Nurk lost too much weight. He's not capable of muscling around like he did but he stills tries to and fails, which leads to bad plays. It's a big change for someone with about a decade under his belt as a pro. It's new ground and it's not working. Hopefully he can adjust his game. I think adding another 10-15 pounds would help but would be very difficult during the season to do it the right way. By right way I mean more muscle less fat. Maybe he needs to go to dinner with Grayson more often.

AD is a good player. No problem Nurk can't guard everyone, but coach has to adjust better.
He did. He didn’t play Nurk much of the game. And as a result we won. That’s literally the coach adjusting. On the fly. Something we didn’t see Vogel or Monty do very often or effectively.

Major Kudos to Coach Bud. It's refreshing to see a coach make an adjustment based on play. Monty used to force Ayton out there no matter what. Vogel did this with multiple players. Bud? Let's go with Plumlee.

I’m glad at least based on Early returns that he is on our sideline now

He made the adjustments in the NBA finals that Monty was unable or unwilling to adjust back, and that was the difference between championship and losing

The Suns have these issues with trading Nurkic:

They must take back less salary than his. They have only 19 real teams to trade with and those teams must be sending a player that costs at least 10.5 million.

The most gettable guy in that range is Steven Adams

okay - nurk got destroyed at the jump - bud brings in an entirely different line up (except for kd who stayed on with team defense

plumlee got down on defense quicker - confronted ad further out and tried to stay infront of him - when plumlee was unsuccessful - ad was met by either dunn - kd - or oneale

lakers lost their lead and went away from ad - but the blueprint was out - even when bud brought nurk back in it wasn't as bad as the start - you just can't one on one with anthony davis - even if he misses he gets the rebound

but ultimately nurk has no business starting against ad - he is nurk's cryptonite plain and simple - it's not just a physical advantage but a mental one - and our starters can't make up for these deficiencies (except for kd)

what's being missed here is oneale and dunn - and the help they provide - sometimes at the same time - best defensive combo ive seen in Phx in a looooong while

It can be less or equal to Nurks salary ($18,125,000) from what I am reading. It just can't be more or part of an aggregated package.

Eh, I give Monty mostly a pass for this (but not for everything). In hindsight, sure, forcing Ayton in the lineups looks like a poor decision. At the time, however, it felt warranted to get some reps in for DA in different situations to help develop him further. It obviously didn't pan out but I don't think the process was wrong.

Steven Adams would be an upgrade in almost every way, but I have no idea why Houston would want to do that, unless they want a pick way out in the future which I'm not sure if Phoenix is even allowed to trade.

Except being sat when you're playing poorly and especially when you aren't playing hard is part of developing a player. Playing him through poor effort only rewards the poor effort.

This was Plumlee's best game and actually I'm very enthusiastic about how he was able to body up AD. AD still got his, but Plumlee was playing very well, and really takes a little of the concern about Nurk vs AD away.

O'Neale has been our bench MVP so far, even moreso than Ryan Dunn at the moment.

Except Dunn is proof you can develop someone young without hurting the team in the process. Plus, Monty was horrible at adjustments. He almost never made them during a game.

Sure, but that's not true of everybody. Growth curves for players are all over the place and mostly hard to predict. Given the team's investment in DA, it's not unreasonable for the team to put him out there more than his current play deserved to see if his potential can be realized.

Monty benched Ayton plenty of times during those poor effort stretches.
