I know it's only been four games, but I am just going to say it: Dunn is overtaking Mikal as my favorite non-star in the league. His defense is damn-near perfect, and he is not bad on offense either. Most of all, I love the fact that he has no fear- there is never any hesitation with him.
It is almost impossible to be skeptical. His defense is stellar and he does not seem intimidated by the best players in the game's history. He guarded both Luka and LeBron in this last week and did an excellent job on both. He has guarded the 2-5 positions successfully and he probably can guard some point guards.

the beauty is how he fights thru picks - screens - switches

the kid's got (defensive) eyes in the back of his head - anticipates those who disappear behind him while paying primary attention to the ball carrier where he's a natural
And he never seems to pick a losing battle. If he can fight through, he fights through, if he has to go around, he goes around - and he always seems to recover a half step quicker than the opponent expects.

they may get the separation for a jump shot but getting by him is another story

I wouldn’t say never, he’s picked up fouls coming over picks aggressively. It’s how austin reeves got the four point play. But he is pretty good about timing and spacing with it and recovers on the other side quickly. I’ve also noted that the suns have a new tactic that I really like. The screener’s defender shows on the ballhandler just long enough to have the original defender recover and then drops back to his original assignment defensively. This is in lieu of switching everything, which I hated. Switching allows the offense to dictate who is going to defend their best offensive weapon. This tactic says, “no, we aren’t giving you the choice, we’ll take a momentary disadvantage of show and recovery to keep our best defender in your best scorer.”

I also love playing dunn and oneale together. Pick and roll with those defending and it doesn’t matter much. You’re going to end up with a strong high energy defender no matter what.

Dunn has really quelled my long term concerns about this team after giving up so much of our young core and future to bring in KD. I was dreading the post KD years. I thought we'd have Booker and nobody else. It's still early, but he's looking really good. He looks big on the court too.

I want to know who scouted him?

What was his projected ceiling and why?

Did he fall or rise in the draft from our projection of where we expected?

Was he our initial draft target?

Did the scout get a raise yet? :)

One or two good picks is all it takes.

I voted "selling," just the mock the poll. I do that on all such polls when I see them, finding them stupid and pointless. It wouldn't hurt either if it made some fanboys mad.

Not to say that this thread is pointless. It's not.

I would keep an ear open for any comments by Bradley Beal to the effect that Dunn has won his respect in particular. It would be useful if Beal respects Dunn. Why? Because if Dunn becomes so good that he should probably start, who would he replace but Beal? And if Beal respects Dunn, the less likely that Beal will get mad if sent to be a bench commander.

The solution is probably Dunn as the 6th man coming off the bench replacing anyone of the 2-5 positions. If he comes in at the 5, its actually Durant that slides over to the 5. It is going to be hard to keep Dunn off the court. Same with Royce.
